Gauthier wants to finish the season well, but draft a good player, which could explain why the Habs have 5 second round picks, that can be used to trade up, especially since 13' is considered a deep draft.
Then Brunet, yes Brunet, talked about Markov not going to World Championship even if hes healthy..
And it made me think of...
He'll announce the Blake Geoffrion callup. Greatest trade deadline move.
I usually don't do that...but....
Then, did anybody catch that? Gauthier said "We traded Gill and Kostitsyn, 2 guys that WERE NOT COMING BACK NEXT YEAR". Now.....because we didn't want them? Or because those guys made it clear already? Also terrible PC, with a terrible GM and terrible journalists. Yet, thanks Gauthier for saying that Beauchamp prepared you at the question of who is boss for the Habs, if you indeed were the boss, he wouldn't have to prepare you for that question....
How could Campoli have no value? I mean, the guy was worth a second a year ago, how could he be worth nothing now?
That's what I have been reading from some posters, one in particular, when talking about the value of Kaberle crashing from last year deadline. Total BS.
I hated the Campoli move from the moment he was signed, but I thought well at worst he will be traded for an asset at the deadline, but Gauthier could not even manage that. Great job you idiot.
edit About the presser, I'm starting to think that the toughness of the Montreal media is really overrated, that was a PC for ***** if I have ever seen one. It was the best time to put the heat on Gauthier for his freakin stupid moves, but no. Nonsense.
It's a sad state of affairs when Nokeleinen, Campoli, Gomez, Kaberle - all players the Habs desperately wanted to get rid of - were not even worth a 7th round pick (as playoff insurance at the very least) at the trade deadline. This, in a year of many buyers and few sellers.
Terrible players, terrible management for bringing them to Montreal and terrible management for not being able to dump them somewhere.
in previous years we saw 10+ moves of 13 th forwards and 7th/8th d added to clear buyers at the deadline
This year we saw two (mottau and scott)
Everyone else traded in a buy/sell move is going to be a regular for their new team.
Seems no one wanted to give any picks (even late ones) for non regulars
Then, did anybody catch that? Gauthier said "We traded Gill and Kostitsyn, 2 guys that WERE NOT COMING BACK NEXT YEAR". Now.....because we didn't want them? Or because those guys made it clear already?
Geoffrion will be happy as hell playing for his Grandpa's team until he sees his line mates Gomez and Campoli.
