Looking through the lines in this thread, it's nice to see so many possible line combos... that is so foreign to me...

Moore - Thornton - Pavelski
Clowe - Couture - Wingels
Giliardi - Marleau - Havlat
Winnik - Handzus - Mitchell

3 scoring lines, 1 checking line. Do it.

I really like this idea but id probably switch Wingels and Havlat.

A Galiardi-Marleau-Wingels line would be a great energy/scoring line imo. And a Clowe-Couture-Havlat line would be a good 1st line on other teams.

Too many passers not enough shooters.

It seems like the team's chemistry with Havlat in the lineup earlier sucked because of having mostly playmakers in the top 6 and not enough shooters. Havlat and Clowe together doesn't seem like a good idea. Couture is our sniper now and even he is really a setup guy/playmaker naturally imo. They all like to hold on to the puck and look for people to pass to.... but someone needs to actually go to the slot. Havlat will never go to scoring areas either. Where's Cheechoo when you need him?

I would imagine Sheppard stays on the big club. Doesn't he have to clear waivers, and would DW want to chance that?

I know it was only one game, but I thought Marleau looked fast against the Flyers.

Do you think playing with another burner on this line might allow him to use his speed more? I love the way Joe slows the game down but have always wondered if that Patty might be equally effective playing with someone who pushes the pace.

Havlat - Thornton - Pavelski
Wingels - Couture - Clowe
Marleau - Winnick - Galiardi
Winchester - Desjardin - Handzus

I think this would allow TM to play any of the top three in any situation, although he might want to slant the defensive zone starts away from Couture's line.

The obvious mid-game juggle would be to move Marleau to the wing on either of the first two lines for Havlat/Wingels depending on which needs more pop.

Poor Dominic Moore. Already forgotten.

Havlat and Thornton shouldn't be on a line together: too many cooks in the kitchen.

It's not just having another burner. It's having a burner that knows how to be responsible defensively. What has been dragging Marleau down in terms of looking effective is the reality that he is the fastest on any line he is on and inevitably has the brunt of the defensive responsibility fall to him because of that. Yes, Pavs and Couture are responsible defensively but they can't recover or back-check with the effectiveness that Marleau can so those types of speed responsibilities defensively always fall to him.

With Winnik, Galiardi, and Moore, if he's playing with any of them, he'll get more opportunities to take chances that lead to scoring attempts.
