Kassian has a much higher likelihood of crapping out than Hodgson.

Can easily be Steve Bernier 2.0.

Can't teach skill and smarts.

Just Brutal. Don't like it and never will.

Unless we win the Cup.....

Big trade.
I think Kass will add much needed gritt for your playoff run. Big price tag for Hodg but I think it will work out for you guys and will be worth it if you get that cup this year.
best of luck.

I've calmed down, but I'm still sad. Going outside for some fresh air before I freak out.

With all these posts about how Kassian will be amazing in a few years you'd think we're rebuilding and not 1st overall trying to win the Stanley Cup this year.

That means nothing. All players develop differently. Lets take a deep breath guys.

I don't get how anyone can think this makes us better for this year. What a **** up of our secondary scoring for the run this summer.

In the future, it's still iffy, Hodgson already looks like at least a 2nd liner, Kassian looks like he could either be Lucic part 2 or a Raffi Torres 3rd liner. It is just such an unnecessary risk in the future for something that makes us so much worse right now.

Awful, awful, awful.

This board is so funny. Neely/Pederson trade? Gave up our cup chances this year for future? Fire Gillis? How about we all take 2 deep breaths and look at what we got back besides just freaking out over what we gave up.

Z. Kassian is a 21, 6'3 mean, nasty winger who scored at a higher PPG in the AHL than Hodgson did in the SAME year. And he's year younger! If there is any player in the NHL who has a chance to be the next Milan Lucic, a guy that most posters here have been lamenting that Vancouver passed over in the 06 draft. Yes his 7pts this year look disappointing compared to Hodgson's numbers but how has he been used in Buffalo? Personally I was thrilled to hear we had acquired the guy, though worried (apparently rightly so) about what we would have to give up. This guy could be HUGE for this franchise as early as this year.

Mar-Andre Gragnani - Don't know much about him other than what Hockeydb says but his numbers are excellent for a young (25) dman, including being nearly PPG in the AHL and over PPG in first round last year. Again numbers this year aren't nearly as high but he appears to have the pedigree of a top 4 dman.

I'm shocked and disappointed to lose Hodgson as well but the reaction on this board is 1/2 insane and 1/2 flat out pathetic. Maybe it will go down as a bad trade, maybe it will win us a cup. The fact that 99% of you claim to KNOW that it is a bad trade boggles the mind...

*Oops, mis-read the season. Looks like Kassian is near PPG in AHL THIS year, not last. Not as good but still compares well (actually better) than Hodgson at the same age.

I guess this isnt the time to attempt to get through to Nucks fans. To much sobbing for them to hear anything logical. Kassian will be fantastic. You will see. Mark my words. You have sedin and kesler. Guaranteed kassian is the better fit for your team. Stop sulking. Hodgson hasnt played against good defenseman yet. Kassian's do not grow on trees, however there are plenty of 2nd line center options available out there. Guaranteed Hodgson doesnt surpass the 2nd line when playing against the best defenseman in the league. Kassian however will soon be your Hartnell.
They do grow on trees. Power forwards are drafted every year, and more often than not, they bust. Buffalo should be familiar with this...Pyatt and Bernier? Yeah size is great, but when you lack vision and hands, then you'll be nothing more than a 3rd/4th liner.

Gillis giveth, Gillis taketh.

Kassian is not going to crap out. I'm sure the staff researched the crap out of him, though.

I find it absolutely baffling some posters were whining about getting tougher and advocating trading the Sedins, and now we got tougher by getting a talented youngster while giving up a 40 point, soft player, they cry a river. I'm a huge Hodgson fan but this trade is a better positional fit.

I'm not even mad anymore. I'm just really, really sad. I know you have to give to get.. but surely we could have gotten something more for Hodgson?

I'm not soured on Kassian, maybe he is our Lucic or Bertuzzi. Just burns to lose our Linden for it. There goes our 3rd line scoring, Pahlsson or Lapierre is not an upgrade on Hodgson at all.

And we still don't have a half decent defenseman on the bottom pairing. Grags is pretty crap.

I can understand as an offseason move but with Hodgson scoring catch goals and having that threat on the 3rd line, I just don't get it, I think we down graded our team for this season. I'm guessing this was a knee jerk to Ott.

Happy when I heard we got Kassian. Immediately depressed when Hodgson revealed as the return. Gragrani better be good. Otherwise this looks bad.

Watching Feaster speak out of his ass is making this slightly better. Honestly, we lose big time here. Hodgson has already been developing and actually plays in the NHL, and not on some **** team. Kassian isn't even in the NHL, watch him bust
