With the trade deadline done we might as well start this up

Potential House Cleaning this summer?

Nevermind what happens if we miss the playoffs, but I predict a roster cleaning of sorts this summer regardless.

Lombardi, Crabb, Armstrong, Komisarek, MacArthur, Connolly, IMO, are all likely targets to be moved over the summer, and by the deadline next year.

I think its a bad idea to move all of them at one time, given the lack of experience on our roster, but one would have to think with the quality of forwards banging on the door, we definitely could see some massive changes sooner than later.

Mueller, Colborne, Kadri, Frattin, and Ashton, should all be ready within a year or two, and I for one hope they are given a fair shake before any of them get traded. Obviously, I think its unlikely all of them end up as Toronto Maple Leafs.

The biggest turds that will be "cleaned up" will be Wilson and Allaire.

I definitely think two of LACK will go and we'll be balls-deep in the Ryan Suter sweepstakes, and to top it off we have our 1st and several young forwards that will push at camp.

Ideally they get rid of all of Lombardi, Armstrong, Connolly, Komisarek, dump Wilson if they miss the playoffs, get rid of Allaire, maybe package some of the youth surplus for some immediate help. And when I say youth surplus, I mean Schenn.

if the plan is to dump these guys why not do it now I mean the return would probably be alot higher at the deadline and we do have some youth capable of stepping in for 20 games and playing well.

There is a better chance for UFAs, though maybe army or connolly might find interest.
Next year more of these guys should move, but fans might have to accept the possibility that Komisarek will playout his contract as a leaf

Parise is a long shot and will want Richards $ and term
But can someone explain to me why we would get Nash still? Wouldn't we have already gotten him right now if we wanted him?

Forget Nash. If we were going to get him it would have happened today but why waste energy in getting his overpaid ass here in the summer when you can get parise at 7mil cap hit for free.

Parise would be great but I don't think he'll come here. $ and term don't meet our criteria.. Remember Brad Richards.. I think it was stated he wanted to go to a place where he can win... Meanwhile we're talking about 'tanking'

Burke made NO deals of veterans or established players for prospects or picks. This was one of the times in which they have the most value at the trading deadline yet he did NOTHING. You think the 'house cleaning' will happen this summer? Keep dreaming.

Burke's going to totally destroy this team ala JFJ style thinking a few tweaks is the key to improving this team but they'll fail again. If Wilson sticks around, they'll be even worse.

Leaf fans continue to be in fantasy land, sorry to say.

The kids get better experience going on a long Calder Cup run and then being inserted into the line-up when they are truly ready for a full-time NHL role than being thrust into a playoff hunt on a team that's not doing any damage this year.

Having said that, I fully expect to see a very different team this time next year. The dead-weight should all be gone by then, including Wilson, and the kids should be ready to play meaningful roles with the big club. I hope we can clear up some cap space at the draft though, maybe make a run at Parise or Suter. By the end of next year I'd love to see something like

Lupul - Kadri - Kessel
Parise - Grabo - Kulemin
Ashton - Colborne - Frattin
Mueller - Steckel - Brown

That 3rd line would be young, full of energy, talented, and huge.
