Everyone has jumped on the tank/Galchenyuk bandwagon, but this strategy pretty much assures that Parise won't sign here.

I'd love to see Burke's pitch on July 1st. "Zach, you should really sign with the Leafs. We haven't made the playoffs since 2004, but rest assured, Tyler Bozak will be your centre. Oh yeah, we are also only offering 6.5 million over 5 years. It's my rule not to offer long term contracts with no trade clauses. Soooo....we have a deal?"

just trying to get a feel for what his value is. instead of having parise and nash i think it would be better to have backes and brown and would be a lower cap hit compared to what nash and parise would be.

Off-Season To-Do List
-Fire RW
-Send Allaire to Montreal
-Sign Parise
-Sign Nash
-Trade for Schneider
-Don't sign Gus
-Get rid of L.A.C.K.
-Keep 1st-round draft pick
-Sign Getzlaf/Ryan
-Why not Ryan Suter too

Shouldn't be hard to do, right?

Should be easy, right?

It's actually impossible to sign a player with an existing contract.

Non-sense. We're Big Blue. Contracts tear themselves up when they see us.

Typical Dwight answer.

i just hope we can get rid of some of these bad contracts taking up valuable cap space, komi, connolly etc etc. with the cap likely going down we are going to need all the space we can get. then put some actually skill on this team. then ill be happy.

The Blue Jackets are asking the Maple Leafs for Jake Gardiner, Joe Colborne, Matt Frattin and a 1st round pick.
Thats what they want. They seem pretty firm on that and won't negotiate. Gardiner is a non starter however. Switch him for Schenn + Mac (salary purposes) instead of Lombardi who they probably won't want.

So if it came down to it. Would you do it? Or move onto someone else?

The deal being

Schenn, Mac, Frattin, Colborne,1st

For

Nash, other pieces (Jenner,3rd,something)

Or would you walk away? Thats a lot to give up but Ashton seems like he can replace Frattin or has the potential to.

No. ****ing. Way

Howson can go **** himself for that price. If no one gives that up in this market for Nash at the TDD, you know Howson is dreaming.

The most I do is Schenn, Colborne, Ross/McKegg, 1st. Anything more isn't worth it.

Hmm let's have some fun.

MacArthur + Bozak + Holzer for Dustin Brown
Connolly for draft pick (anything)

Sign Parise
Sign Nabokov
Re-sign Grabovski and Kulemin

--------

Lupul - Kadri - Kessel
Parise - Grabovski - Brown
Kulemin - Colborne - Frattin
Brown - Steckel - Armstrong
-Lombardi/Crabb

Phaneuf - Gunnarsson
Schenn - Gardiner
Franson - Liles
-Komisarek

Nabokov
Reimer

Prospects developing: Ashton, Biggs, Ross, McKegg, Olden, Blacker, Percy, Scrivens, Rynnas, Owuya

I wonder if the the asking price changes if our first selection is a lottery pick.

Colborne, Frattin, Schenn, 2012 6th overall ?

i really wish burke would've taken the 1sts he was offered for mac and kulemin. we could call up kadri and colborne/ashton for the rest of the year and play out the final 20 games and probably pick in the 6-9 range.

those 2 extra 1sts would be great to play around with on draft day. maybe move up if we need to? take another run at nash with them?

a bit disappointing he passed tbh.

I think in this instance, Dreger was full of s**t. I don't buy it that first rounders were being offered for all those players.

Neither do I however it's already being passed around as fact and will be for the entire off season.

My guesses for the off-season:

I think we will be patient to see what happens with parise and then afterwards we will see what we can do, although I am a FIRM believer, Parise will re-sign with them. I also think we won't be in the running for Nash unless the price drops drastically and focus on ryan probably again rather, it's just too much of a burke move to look for someone from the left field or someone we just don't expect, while we divert our attention to an another area.

I also believe we will give stastny a look more than people think, yes he is not performing and yes he isn't doing well, but I have a hunch sherman will move him and give Duchene and Radar enough of a chance to spearhead their team.

We should re-visit the Stastny situation in the summer or at the draft.

Will also help us ease in Kadri to possible see if he is truly top line center material, I have high hopes for him, as I believe colborne is the second liner.
