The Ultimate Fighter Live (debuts March 9)

They just announced the cast so I guess this is as good a time to start a thread as any.

http://www.mmaweekly.com/new-ultimat...-cast-revealed

e: now with teams!

Team Cruz
Justin Lawrence (4-0), Villa Ridge, Mo.
Sam Sicilia (11-0), Spokane Valley, Wash.
Myles Jury (10-0), San Diego, Calif.
Mike Rio (9-1), Miami, Fla.
James Vick (5-0), Mineral Wells, Tx. (defeated Daron Cruickshank)
Vinc Pichel (8-0), Sherman Oaks, Calif.
Chris Tickle (8-4), Bloomington, Ill.
Jeremy Larsen (9-2), Phoenix, Ariz.

Team Faber
Al Iaquinta (6-1-1), Wantagh, N.Y.
Cristiano Marcello (13-3), Curitiba, Brazil
Daron Cruickshank (10-2), Wayne, MI (lost to James Vick)
Joe Proctor (8-1), Pembroke, Mass.
Michael Chiesa (8-0), Spokane Valley, Wash.
John Cofer (8-1), Hull, Ga.
Andy Ogle (9-1), Tynemouth, England
Chris Saunders (10-2), Long Beach, Calif.
=========================

Guys I recognize:

-Cristiano Marcello was part of Chute Boxe and is famous for choking out Krazy Horse backstage at a PRIDE event.
-James Krause fought in the WEC a couple of times (lost to Cerrone) and also had a fight against Toby Imada in Bellator.
- Myles Jury was on season 13 before he had to withdraw with a knee injury. I think there is at least one poster here who is a big fan
- uhhh Akbarh Arreola and Al Iaquinta sound vaguely familiar for some reason but looking at their records I can't really figure out why.

Anyways it should be interesting to see how the "live" format works out although I'm not 100% sure I understand exactly how it will work yet. Like if the show is airing over 13 weeks does that mean that the guys have to stay in Vegas for that long now instead of the usual 6 weeks?

Yes, they'll be in the house for the 13 weeks from what I've read. And from the sounds of it each week the fans will decide the match-up(s) for that week, then on Friday those fights will happen live.

One question for fellow Canadians, anyone know if Sportsnet is in fact showing this season? I saw an ad for FX Canada stating they were the exclusive home for the live episodes and looking ahead on my channel listings there's nothing saying the Ultimate Fighter will be shown on any of the Sportsnet channels I get. Hopefully Sportsnet will be airing these in at least some capacity, don't think FX Canada is even available here.

Dakota Cochrane beat Jamie Varner recently.

Jordan Rinaldi has a victory over Dennis Bermudez

Huh, that's a lot to ask of the fighters. The guys on previous seasons have been going stir crazy after 6 weeks, now they're asking them to stay more than twice that period of time! I guess they'll find out who wants to be a ****in' fighter though

Too lazy to do research but what weight class are these guys? And only reason I'll end up watching is for Faber. Hate Cruz.

seriously? Friday nights a 10pm?

the Friday Night death slot right off the bat?

I thought this UFC/FOX contract was supposed to expose the UFC to a mainstream audience?

At least you picked these guys as 'familiar for some reason' and not this guy..

Dakota Cochrane is openly gay and is a former porn star. Not sure what to think of that/

edit: bit late i guess.

Haha, just caught that Seinfeld last night. It's gonna be interesting to see how the UFC handles this.

Maybe War Machine can give him tips how to do well in TUF, and Cochrane can give him tips how to do well in porn.

Although I don't know if War Machine did gay porn. He did go to prison a few times, so I'm sure he knows the routine.

I thought the same, but so far I've yet to see anything showing that it will be shown on Sportsnet. Only thing I've seen are FX Canada ads saying they will be showing it "Exclusively Live" so I'm hoping Sportsnet will at least be showing it in some capacity.

TUF 15 debuts on Friday, March 9 and will feature live fights each week. It will be broadcast live on FX Canada and will be replayed later on all Sportsnet regional channels. (The premiere is scheduled to air on Sunday, March 11 (check local listings).

That sucks. I'll probably just download it the same night and watch it instead of trying to avoid spoilers for a couple days every week.

haha I was wondering how they were gonna fit in 16 fights on today's episode -- apparently they're only gonna be one round each.

Have to admit I always smirk when a fighter loses after explaining how he can't lose cause he was blessed by god. Guess god was on a smoke break there

Followed out by an Eddie Bravo guy boasting about his awesome rubber guard, then getting mounted instantly and choked out by a high-level Gracie black belt. A good start to the season so far.

10th planet jiu jitsu is so ****ing dorky, it's always satisfying to see one of their guys get dummied.

Case in point:

That fight looked like something out of a high school gym class.

Since there aren't any teams yet the gym is even more quiet then usual, it really accentuated the heavy panting by the British guy in that last fight
