Yeah the other dude hung in there pretty good but he was pretty clearly outmatched. Pretty rare to see a guy mix in effective takedowns with striking like Cruickshank did.
Tons of aggressive guys so far, though that's probably due in large part to having only one round to work with. It still bodes well for the fights this season though.
I COMPLETELY forgot that Myles Jury was back. He should be the favorite going into this season now that Tuck got eliminated (and wouldn't have been able to fight with that toe, anyway). I would probably take Jury over Tuck, too.

Yeah, not the first time he's criticized him either, first thing I thought of was "wow, there must be a ref union keeping Steve's job for him"
That kid Lawrence was insane, the other guy had no idea what to do. I wonder if anyone in the house will know how to counteract that blazing speed. Wow.
Jury didn't look great last night -- well, he won comfortably, but basically just took the guy down and stayed in his guard -- but you can probably chalk it up to the fact that he was fighting a guy he apparently trained with. Didn't really look like he was going all-out unlike some of the other guys.

Jury also hasn't fought in almost two years due to trying out for TUF last year and then this season. I think cage rust is likely the reason. Plus he didn't want to pop his ACL again...
Ballsy move by Cruz to put Lawrence against Marcello. If it works out, then Faber arguably loses his top 2 guys in the first 2 fights. I have a feeling Marcello beats Lawrence though, he has serious BJJ credentials.
Marcello has a bit of that "elite BJJ guy who might go loopy in a hurry if he gets hit" vibe about him (think Vinny Magalhaes) but yeah, it's definitely a ballsy move by Cruz. I kind of wish he'd stuck to his guns and forced Faber to pick, that was hilarious and he pretty much showed up the whole blue team.
Faber: "Uhhh.... I dunno, any of you guys want to fight Lawrence?"
*crickets*
And yeah that was a crazy finish, I was expecting that tall guy to get KO'd badly but he timed the knee perfectly.
Also I'm finding I have to cure myself of old habits from watching this show for so long... like when they spent a bunch of time focussing on Lloyd Irvin teaching him that anaconda choke I was like "hmmm, I wonder if that's foreshadowing for the fight later" before I remembered that it was live And I also waited around a bit expecting the preview of next week's episode...

That could be true, but how is Lawrences ground game? Sherdog has him at 3 fights against guys I've never heard of. Can anyone shed some light on this? If it's a case of green striker vs. veteran grappler, I've gotta take the grappler.

Haha, guilty on both those fronts as well. I missed the tale of the tape music they used to play as well.
Caught the 2nd showing of it since I was busy with hockey games and man. I don't think I actually like the live fights. I liked the old format a lot. Also, did not expect Vick to win. He was literally doing nothing and he got lucky there because he even said he was going for a kick and the dude he fought went for a takedown and just ate the knee.
Also, the Brazilian will win the next fight I think. And if not, at 34, he's got no future if he can't at least go far in the Ultimate Fighter

Should be a great fight. Lawrence is an animal. Not sure Marcello will be able to stand with him.
I think Cruz got the better fighters for the most part. Could be a long season for Team Faber.

I can only speak to what I saw on the show but Cruz seemed to have a pretty high opinion of Lawrence's wrestling as well in that segment where he got him to beat up on that other guy (Tickle?). If so then it could be difficult for Marcello to get him to the ground in the first place.
