Sorry if I'm late on this, but Japer's tweeted this estimate that says the Caps can make the playoffs playing 500 hockey the rest of the way. Seems low to me, but, ok.

Lines up with your numbers.

I prefer to name his class the T9. As in predictive text.

Or, I heard in his benchmark testing, that he did qualify to be considered in the rare T Fiddy Class as well.

Since the Caps' GM didn't make a move yesterday could we do some sort of fan trade like........... we'll take Tavares and give you any Caps' forward whose last name starts with "T" just to be fair.

Thanks in advance.

The Islanders are the only team in the Eastern Conference that the Capitals have not had a win against this season.

I feel strangely optimistic about this one. They're out of excuses and expectations.

Cue: Nabokov putting on a career performance, Jurcina scoring from center ice, Keith Aucoin colliding with Ovechkin during warmups, taking #8 out for the rest of the season, Slapshot caught fondling a girlscout behind the concession stand, Simeon Varlamov being irradiated by cosmic rays giving him the power to slow down time, Dale Hunter's mustache accepting a five year contract with Hadeed carpets, Craig Laughlin going on a murder spree when they forget to stock the minibar in the broadcast booth, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera....

My fear. Possibility of hot goaltender reverting to prime non-playoff form.

My two favorite teams and their GM's. Gotta say the Gauthier jokes are hilarious. Like Hamr's group too.

Very well done.

Diet and exercise remain by far the biggest Ovie killer.

The root being either immaturity, ignorance, and/or lack of interest in doing "whatever it takes" to improve.

Not trying to be harsh, btw. I like Ovi, I think like everybody else he has the right to do whatever the hell he wants to do.. just think if there were a voice he'd listen to, he himself could very well be happier in the long run.

Guaranteed contracts, the long ass season, and razors have a hand in there somewhere.

Pretty good interview with GMGM on 980. Some nuggets:

- Says even if the team doesn't make playoffs, he won't make big changes. Attributes the decline this year to Nicky and Green injuries

-Ever since Ovi's suspension for Campbell hit, Ovi has played at around 227 lbs. He was at 242lbs that year.

- When asked about Ovi being fully dedicated, GMGM's response was "its better than before". Sounds like he's still not 100% happy about Ovi's off season routine.

- Didn't do anything on trade deadline because there weren't many teams selling. Says since so many teams are still not out of it everyone wanted to buy rather than sell.

- On Nicky, says he has absolutely no clue when Nicky will be ready. If he says he feels good and ready tomorrow, they will go through procedure and if he passes he will start practicing. Sounds like they are leaving it up to Backstrom.
