What Place Will The Isles Finish In?

I guess it is finally safe to say the playoffs are out of the way, so it is time to speculate on where our Islanders will wind up. Barring the Blue Jackets winning out, do you think it will be, in terms of pre-lottery draft position:

2nd?
3rd?
4th?
5th?
6th?
7th?
8th or higher?

I am going with 3rd since our remaining schedule is a real bear and Cap has been preparing the team well for each one.

The poll should close before the game on Saturday, and thanks for playing!

I see us finishing 3rd. With the way we've been playing, I don't see any reason why we finish behind 3rd, that is if the hockey gods are cruel to us and does the same thing that happened last year.

Please, anything goes after what has happened in the last 2 drafts. I still cringe when thinking that the Isles had Fowler all locked up when nobody selected him. I know other teams missed on Skinner as well but watching Skinner 2 seasons in a row bring my fantasy team to the playoffs drives me nuts. How nice would it have been to have those 2 in our lineup today?

I personally hope we finish 3rd at this point, I'm all for fighting and scratching to make the playoffs to the bloody end but we've completely blown our chances.

3rd. We suck! I am done with the season, my last game that I will watch will be tonight just because my Caps friends want me to go out to eat wings and drink beer with them, plus they think its funny that I am an Isles fan... We will probably lose 4-3 after being up 3-0 with :50 left in the game... Thanks SnowWang for another stellar season! Can't wait till next year <sarcasm>...

Within 19 days, the team has 13 games.

That's like, wow.

Seeing how this team has fared since the trade deadline, I see a maximum of 5 victories coming. Dunno if that is even likely. These victories also may not all be in regulation time.

That would give us 33 victories this season.

I see Anaheim and Minnesota surpassing that, even if just slightly.

As such, I'm once again tipping on 5th.

If this team wins any less than 4 games the rest of the way, we'll be picking top 3, at least going into the draft lottery.

I'm going with 7th place.

Columbus and Edmonton are close to locked in 1st and 2nd. Then there are 7 teams within 4 points of each other for 3rd-9th including us. We have a game in hand on 2 of them, and TB has a game in hand on us.
5th or 6th place I think would be the conservative choice, but I'll be optimistic and say 7th.

Going with 5.

Columbus and Edmonton have a big enough lead for the last two spots. I see us finishing ahead of Minnesota and some yet to be determined faller (Montreal, Toronto, Tampa Bay). Actually, I think we fall to 3rd from last because of our tough schedule, and then win the last two games against Winnipeg and Columbus to pass a couple of teams.

I'd be pissed if we finished with the 5th pick again, it's painfully obvious how bad this team needs to pick one of those gems that usually go 1st through 3rd. I'm not saying teams don't pick great players later than that, because they do, but getting a 1st, 2nd or 3rd pick is really hard to screw up even if you're the Islanders (Insert DP picture here).

And the irony, the one year that picking 5th would have been great (or terrible, depending on the situation), we picked 6th!

Yup. I remember thinking, we could easily land Adam Larsson with the way the players and picking order were playing out. Then ****ing Jersey won the lottery.

If Caps keeps playing Nabby and our guys can't close out games we won't get higher than 3rd.

No miracle can have us finish last (and land Yakupov) unless we deliberately lose games. So I'd say 3rd or 2nd, most likely 3rd

Like Fowler's potential, but he's a total minus 200 I believe in 2 seasons (slightly off give or take a few points). Haven't seen a lot of Fowler, but he seems like a huge defensive liability, and he's a defensman, so that's really bad. Plus his offens is down this year. 11 teams passed on Fowler I believe, so that says something.

On a side note, Skinner and Fowler were BOTH from the 2010 draft, so it would have taken a GM 1000x more shrewd than Snow to wind up with both on our team. It was either Niederreiter vs Skinner or Niederreiter vs Fowler. I personally loved the Niederreiter pick, and think he will be an excellent power forward, possibly riding shotgun with Tavares and/or Strome. No way can we give up on him yet, way too talented.

We play ourselves into playoff contension, then when we are 5 points out we lose lose and lose some more, then when we are out of the playoff race and eliminated, we play good to great hockey down the stretch, just so we cant draft a dynamic player in the top 3 instead we through shots in the dark hoping the Nino's stromes and deHann's work out.....

Its the Islanders way

we get points when it no longer matters
