Actually I'm fine with the Jets having a team again. Could always use another patsy.
You guys are like a good omen or something. Oilers are always on the cusp of something great when you're around.
Think about it.
As far as bitter, that would be MTS faithful chanting "Oilers suck" from the drop of the puck in the only matchup between these clubs in over 15yrs. That suggests bitter, and issues. Doesn't it?
Yeah that chant kinda caught me by surprise. I understand if it was playoffs or something, but lol.
I am happy they got their team back but it felt a little like a family that had been poor for a long time that won the lottery but suddenly became loudmouth show offs as soon as they got their million dollar cheque.
If the game was in Edmonton you certainly would not have heard "Jets suck" chants, they probably would've gotten a polite applause when coming out onto the rink.
I wouldn't call it crass. But should you choose to cheer for your team in our barn, be prepared to get it right back in your face from our fanbase. You are not in oil country anymore, so be prepared for people to drown you out. Its part of the sports fabric.
If I were to attend a Jets game at Rexall, start up a go jets go chant with the plethora of jets fans that will be in attendance, and your fanbase started chanting "jets suck" to try and drown us out, I would kind of think I deserve it as I'm on your turf, so the onus is on me to show a little respect for being on an opposing teams turf. Either way I don't care, but as long as no one gets violent or too verbally abusive, I see nothing wrong with defending your team on your home turf.

you are right - you would have heard people complaining about management/ownership and boycotting the team to show how pissed off they are...thus too busy to concern themselves with the Jets.
Being an Oiler fan at the game I thought it was great to see a fan base that is 100 percent dedicated to their team and will do anything during the game to be the effective 7th player that Oiler home game fans stopped doing years ago.
The only aspect of the game that ticked me off was the Oiler fan from Edmonton behind me that dumped his beer all over myself and an elderly woman sitting beside me...I was embarrassed.

There are always loud pro-Leaf and hab chants when they come to town. From what I can tell the usual response is from Oiler fans is a short, immediate "boo!!!" followed by them starting a pro-Oiler chant. Then they compete with their chants for the rest of the night. That's pretty much it.

your comments regarding Calgary/Edmonton people in the Winnipeg PGT were an embarrassment...you are in the wrong place here.
Yeah, always interesting to note that type of thing. Smells like troll spirit.
Living in Winnipeg now I am hoping the Jets make the playoffs - I love the atmosphere in this city right now regarding the Jets. The fan support is phenomonal.
Having said that I respectfully controlled my Oiler outburst throughout the game in respect for the Jets season ticket holders around me (and I was sitting in the Manitoba Hydro season ticket seats!).
There was nothing that went on in the arena that was disrespectful to either team - it was awesome to see an old rivalry brought back to fruition.
Loved to see the hate for Hall - man, did he get under the fan's skin with his play...

Pure jeolousy of course. Its hard to get as excited about Kane, Wheeler, Buff, I guess than it is hall, Eberle, RNH.
Gotta be depressing for Winnipeg. This Oiler team is riding the up elevator with some world class players and Jets are trying to ice the best possible vet team they can that won't be getting any better. Its like also ran all over again for a longtime with this Jets club.

It's not really about Hall. They boo the star players on every team for fun.

I will disagree with you on the current Jets' talent based on watching every game this year. Kane is a future dominant power forward - the guy is a beast to play against. I wish hall would get the same edge Kane has. Wheeler is a big man that can handle the puck in a phone booth...great to watch.
TSNE has a free pass this year as there will be no drop in support by the city whether they make the playoffs or not. Going forward they better be looking to upgrade especially if realignment occurs and they switch over to the Western Conference.
You commented on the small building in a previous post - if you get the chance to take in a game their you would understand the hype around the league regarding the noise. I have been to numerous NHL arenas and that place is loud.
Now that this game is over - I can put aside my Jets shirt my daughter bought me and go back to supporting the 29th place team!!!

it actually wafted between Eberle and Hemsky until Hall took the shot after the offside whistle...the hatred was immediately turned onto Hall at that point.
In all fairness to Hall, the building was so loud no one heard the whistle!

Yeah, I think it's all in good fun. People pay good money to go to games, and booing the team's best players is fairly harmless. It's good that someone on our team gets the respect to get booed simply for being a great player. If it was the 2009-2010 Oilers it would have been dead silent.

Gotta love the Winnipeg fan with their location listed as "Deadmonton". It's like a obese kid making fun of the less obese kid at fat camp.

If you want to drown out the visiting team go hard, I just think there are better ways to do that than a lame 'opposition sucks' chant. It's not that big of a deal but if you want to lower yourself to the Nucks and Flames level be my guest. It's no skin off our ass.
