Hunwick Appreciation Thread

Give this guy some credit, he has really stepped up his play lately and we really need that to happen. Hopefully this doesn't jynx him, but there's no shame in joining the bandwagon.

I don't think anybody did. I just hope Scratcho doesn't take him out while he's playing like this.

I started watching the game in the 2nd period and the first thing I saw was the play where Hunwick hustled back on that 3 on 1 and "cleared" the rebound. That was almost as awesome as when he knocked down 3 Canucks in a row.

I appreciate Hunwick.

I always felt he got treated unfairly by many posters here. It's not the guy's fault that our team was awful last year and he had to play far more minutes than you can reasonably expect from him.

But yeah, he's been really solid. Actually the whole defense corps has. Hejda has turned his game around as of late and Johnson is simply a stud.

Sacco is finally playing him in the right situations and he is doing better. Go figure.

Confidence is a delicate thing. When he is on his game he is pretty darn good. Always liked the kid and aways will.

Now what? A Kevin Porter appreciation thread?

This is the Hunwick I knew two years ago in the playoffs for the Bruins.

Any guy who can skate 180 feet in 3 seconds deserves to be in the lineup.

This! He's been hustling hard and it shows. From what I've seen over the past couple games he's been a work horse and it's paid off. I prefer him over Elliot at the point to be honest.

When O'Byrne comes back, I think I'd rather he be in the lineup that Elliott or Barrie. Elliott is a mess defensively.

The guy seems to have a great mindset. Very happy he's doing well when he is playing this year. Hope some team notice how he plays and picks him up this summer and plays him as a #6 defender.

He's not going to be back with Avs. He knows he has no real future here.

He's growing on me. Not a complaint after being scratched for half the season and stepped in admirably. Tbh, he played better then Quincey would've this game.

Glad Hunwick is making the most of his chance, he's been solid...plus major props to him for being such a good sport about not playing much.

Wow...the elation is getting out of control. Next thing you know there'll be a SACCO appreciation thread.

Look, the guy is still an NHL defenseman, I would imagine he'd be a great pickup for a team in real need of depth defenders. He'd be a fine addition to Tampa Bay or the Islanders. Just hope to hell the frickin' Flames don't sign him...I could see that happening. In that case I hope 2010-11 Hunwick makes a triumphant return.

Respect, you've earned it Hunwick.

At this point, Hunwick deserves to play over Elliott/Barrie when ROB returns.

Really good to hear Hunwick's been doing better. I guess he had it pretty rough last season? Anyone have a general idea of what kinda contract he'll earn in the offseason?

He's been good all season long (when he was playing), not just over this last stretch of games. He plays hard and he knows his limits, what more can you ask from him?

Yup yup. He's been good in the few games he's played in. Let's hope he keeps it up.
