every team that wasnt 100% sure before now knows howson is stuck, so i cant see a rival GM bail howson out by meeting howsons original demands and i dont think anybody forsee's any circumstance that nash returns as a blue jacket next season.
If that's the case then Howson will have done okay: getting a Dany Heatley-level return for a player who isn't and never has been as good as Dany Heatley.

really?

everyone is entitled to their own opinion but after living in ottawa from 2004-2009 and watching heatley play on a daily basis on the leagues top line, the leagues top offensive team and a perennial powerhouse I can assure you dany heatley was not the straw that stirred that drink.

stats dont always prove everything

i mean is pavel datsyuk really the 2nd best player in the league or he is a guy that simply isnt good enough to ever score 50 goals or break 100pts, i would think their simply is more to it then stats and stats alone..

Howson will have more teams to work with this summer, at least teams interested in dealing for Nash and bidding up the price. The trick will be if Nash decides to put the screws on him and cuts his list of teams. Particularly if Nash were to go public with that list - that would really screw Howson and destroy his leverage.

yah for sure man, i would imagine his list of "suitable" teams will be rather short though thus forcing howson to deal with just those teams.

Dany Heatley is not as good as his stats over several years might indicate, but he's still been a consistently better player than Rick Nash.

Regardless of what happens, you can be fairly certain Howson will butcher things.

He trades Voracek a #1 and a #3 for Carter and then gets Johnson and a #1 when he moves him 5 months later. He signs Nash and Wiz to stupid deals. And Umberger. And Brassard. He still doesn't have a starting goalie. Or a backup goalie.

He's awful.

I am thrilled he's in the Wings division. Hopefully Chicago hires Burke when their GM gets fired in a year or two.
