Dude, those were SMALL mistakes that happen all the time! It resulted in a FACE OFF, not an odd man rush or a break away. Also, the OT play, it happens... it resulted in a 1 on 2... that happens a billion times a game, but most of the time the D plays it well and its a non issue. Hammer let O skate right the **** in and Amac just watched!
Thank you!!! Somebody here gets it! Clearing the puck out of play happens all game every game. It results in a faceoff, that's it. Trying to make a play in the Off zone with 2 Dmen backing you up is not the losing mistake.
Again, for the slow ones here, the game was lost long before OT.
Bailey skated his azz off this game and made great plays. Anyone can clear a puck over the short boards by the bench when it's late in the game and you're tired.
Get over it!

1) There are no small mistakes in a one goal game.
2) You can't give the puck away to let Alex ****ing Ovechkin come into your zone with a full head of steam. You just can't. Especially not in a 4 on 4 situation. Yes, Hamonic got caught drifting backwards (and set himself up to be the screen,) but that doesn't excuse Bailey's turnover at all.
Bailey had a great game for the first 55 minutes, but he made two unforced errors down the stretch that directly led to Washington goals.
You're right when you say "it happens." It happens to awful teams like the Isles all the time, which is why we finish in the lottery every freaking year.
Blaming the guy who cleared the puck into a bench and then was taken off the ice as the team proceeded to lose the ensuing face-off, block a shot, then lose the puck in a scrum, and then have another shot deflected into the net on a screened goalie and saying he had a "major" part in the goal is downright laughable if not completely ridiculous.
The Bailey line was the best line for the Isles tonight. They easily had the most offensive zone time.
His two biggest mistakes were costly. I agree that there were others who did far worse, but this is Bailey's career to date but they are what they are. He will never take that step to own his shift if you know what I mean. That has always dogged him since day one.
They need to improve the team's defense before worrying about growing projects like him & Kyle at this point. Move both of them for real help.

I agree to a point. I say move KO, but not Bailey. You gave Bailey better line mates tonight and that line did great. I say leave him on the wing and make sure he is on the 2nd line.

One of the big problems with our defense is that we're loaded up front with guys like Oh-no-so who contribute next to nothing in the neutral and defensive zones.
I don't get why people are complaining...the Isles had no business even leading in this game. For the first 2 periods, how much time was the play in the Islander zone, like 80%? The Caps are so much faster and more talented, it is not even close.
The Islanders as a team are small and slow, and are beaten almost all the time to loose pucks, either in the corners or along the boards. This is why they get pinned in their own zone for such long periods of time, and until they acquire some younger, faster talent that plays with an edge, they are going to continue to line the bottom of the league.
#2) Bailey losing the puck was not a shock as there was probably alot of snow on the ice and it looked like he just kept moving forward and the puck stopped. Anyone who has played before has had this happen to them.
#3) Okposo is just dreadful, he really needs to be moved off the team for a pick or another player. He is the perfect example of a 2000s' Islander: not very big, slow footed, soft on the puck and hesitant when he has it - which leads to persistent bad decisions. I've written him off as a player, and the team needs to trade him while he still has some value.
.....And that my friends is why this team will not sniff the playoffs. Only the Islanders could blow a two goal lead with three minutes to go and then being 30 seconds from moving within six points of 8th spot.
Every team around us continues to lose (Toronto, Winnipeg to Edmonton last night, etc.) and we had YET ANOTHER chance to make it interesting tonight and could not seal the deal. That is the difference between a halfway decent team and a bad team (like ours). To be up 2-0 through 57 minutes of play and lose 3-2...makes you shake your head...but this team does that regularly.

What really made me flip my lid was the penalty KO took at the end of that power play! He strolled thru the neutral zone instead of back checking... then at the last minute he sees that there is another Cap player on the rush so he busts his butt to play catch up, but is now so far behind his only choice is to hook... LAZY!!!!
Let's face it, we're never going to be good with this coach and cast of sorry characters. Rebuild has had zero progress, another lottery pick and next year will be the exact same thing...sounds like insanity to me

I don't know what was said on the bench, but Weight and fat boy Cap chuckling over something before OT started. I'm pulling my hair out, sick over this team and they seem to care less.
