The Devils stand at 74 points with exactly 20 games to go.
Last season 93 points was the cutoff, the previous season was 88.
I will go with 93 points as the cutoff for this season. For this team to be playoff bound and end that nasty one year non-playoff streak, this team needs 19 points in 20 games. In other words .500 hockey, and the schedule does not get easy.

I see us hitting a few bumps down the stretch and finishing a little above .500 in this stretch and finishing with 95 points, making for a very nervous finish.

Think at this point we likely finish 6th. 96-97 points.
Holy **** batman thats a tuff schedule. If we can play +.500 we can win in the playoffs too. 6th seed 99pts. Beat Southeast champ and then world war III v.s the Rangers.
As long as we make the big dance, I don't care where we'll be seeded. If we face Boston in the 1st round, so be it. We'd probably have to play them anyways down the road and in all honesty, I'd rather face them in the 1st round when our guys are still "fresh" then facing them in the 3rd round for example when we'll have alot of wear and tear because of the other series.

Exactly. After last year, I'm more than happy to just be there in general. No playoff hockey is just depressing.
STOP LOSING to teams like Tampa Bay. No reason we should lose to any of these teams. Carolina, Tampa Bay, Avalanche, Toronto, Isles. We play the Isles 4 times in a little over a week. If we lose one then we lose one, but we should win at least 3. We should be able to beat the Rangers, Flyers, and Penguins at least one each. We have 2 left with all of those teams.
Like I said. If they take their heads out of their ***** they can beat Boston, or at the very least lose fighting, and on their feet like the first time we played Boston.
I aint making any predictions. Like others have said win 10 more games at least, and we should be good. It will be a mediocre finish, but we'll likely be in. Watch the shootout wins too. A lot of teams below us have more regulation, and overtime wins than we do.
I don't see why if two teams are tied in points, but one has more wins, and the other has 1 or 2 less wins than the other team, but 2 more OT losses, and non regulation that they should be ahead, because they've won more games in regulation or OT.
Now if both teams finish with the same amount of points, and wins, but one time has more regulation, and OT wins than the other team, and they get in I see that as totally fair.
I would hope a team 44-30-8 with 96 points, and 36 regulation, and overtime wins would not finish above a team 45-30-7 with 33 regulation and overtime wins.
Finish 6th, play Florida at 3rd and unleash Deboer's Wrath. Play Boston in 2nd round and slowly slide dagger into Rolston and Mottau's chest with tears welling up. Play Rangers in ECF and buckle up.
I could see this team finishing in the upper 90s of points (like 96-98) and getting to the 5 seed. Just don't see them edging out the 4, but that's more because I think we won't quite be able to pass Pittsburgh. Not my ideal match up in the first round, but you take what you get in that regard.

12-8 24 points. 98 points finish. 3-6 matchup vs FLORIDA 5 game SERIES win.
isn't that a reason to hate the man who gave him that contract?
Honestly I don't trust Lou after that one. Not saying he has done nothing, but stupid deals since then, but that was probably the worst. Hard to top that.

No OT points? Just give me one more win v.s NYR and I'd sign up for this.
