No you're right on. It's digital photography with the indoor lighting and surrounding color cast.
I don't think they spend much time color correcting the press photos. Seems like they go straight from the camera to the web... and in 15 minutes at that.
It's definitely a problem on CSN's end, their camera/broadcast crew most likely. The real jersey has a green tint to its teal and it's very bright. For some reason CSN always winds up making the teal look dark blue. You can notice the difference when watching Sharks games on another network like NBCSP where the teal actually looks "TEAL". Better yet, go to a game or hold up your replica or whatever and you tell me how different the color looks.
CSN is the main broadcast network for the San Jose Sharks and they mess up the team's color...go figure.
Played around to see what it may look like if "updated" ... was never a fan of the gray so I took it out. Meh ...
I would change the lower stripe on the teal one, probably to black at the center, then teal then white. I dunno why but the thick teal stripe doesnt break it up enough fo rme
something like this, i dunno I used a cream as well instead of a clean white

Worcester wore special theme jersey over the weekend that people loved. Black, teal shoulders, Worcester's logo (SJ's old). All that needed to be changed to make a nice 3rd (or our road) would be a lace and shorten the teal stripe at the hem.

In my eye the new colors and logo completely changed this team's identity. Most of the other 29 teams have only gone through uniform changes, not complete logo overhauls, changing the logo means changing the teams identity. It wasn't enough that they had to change the logo, they also changed the teal to a brighter greener teal and on top of that included a whole new color that the team wasn't even born with.
How the hell do Shark filled Pacific waters bring up thoughts of the color orange???? Perhaps it would make more sense if it was Red instead of orange....but that wouldn't look good either.
Old Uniform: Great White Sharks = Grey, White
Pacific Ocean = Deep Aquatic teal
Dug up an old video, this was when the new logo was introduced.
Those were some interesting concepts.
