One of the guys on here streams Sabres games and whenever they score, he plays a banjo solo. It's super upbeat and fun. I actually really love it, and I think most of the people who watch his stream do, too. If he's around and reads this thread, maybe he'll post the tune.
He isn't on HF... but the Banjo goals are hillarious
Well what were doing now is stupid. RJ replay 3 minutes after we score? Stupid.
I was in MSG on Saturday for our game and I could live with the Rangers song. It worked.
But then I also thought the beat from the hoo rah hoo rah hoo rah yea these are the swords of a thousand men worked pretyy good too. And not just because it had a reference to "swords" in it. If you cut that out and just looped the hoo rah **** it would work really well. Fast beat crowd revving I think. Just my .02
I was actually at the game, or one of the games where they played it and the crowd wasn't into it at all. They didn't know what to do, and the Sabres didn't play it long enough for it to catch on. Probably didn't help the volume wasn't that loud on the recording they had...either that, or the PA guy was embarrassed to play it that loud.
I think the best ones are stupid songs that people can kind of sing along with. I don't like using real metal type songs that have nothing to do with hockey.

I hate Lonely Boy, I think the lyrics kind of suck and it sounds like a song that 29 other teams could play in their arena. Give me something unique, something that means something to Buffalo, and something that inspires the fans to sing along.

Tenpole Tudor FTW.
I like the black keys, but I'm not impressed with lonely boy as a goal song. it's not buffalo; we either need something "buffalo" (I'm thinking goos, but I have no idea what song that would be), or "kitch" sing-a-long (think the blackhawks' song or the bills' shout song).
Who cares if it's "Buffalo" or not. Chelsea dagger is "chicago" and its considered the best goal song in the league by many. Last time we tried to find a song that related to the team was swords of a thousand men and that was downright embarrassing. Bottom line is, everyone will have a problem with the song no matter what song they choose because everyone has a different taste in music. IMO Lonely boy is awesome
ON Friday I drove 4 1/2 hours from Pittsburgh to Cincinnati to watch the Black Keys play live at US Bank Arena. An incredibly hot woman arrived late to the show and was seated right next to me with her friend. We hit it off with some small talk, and it was burning in my heart that I wanted to kiss her. During Lonely Boy I leaned over and asked her, she said, "no" but when I asked again and she said "ok but no tongue"! So we kissed, two complete strangers met during a Black Keys concert and kissed. I slipped her the tongue but she backed out! lol
What an amazing live band, that show absolutely rocked.
Somebody once suggested "Animosity" by Ministry on here as an entrance song. That would be incredible. Yes it is Industrial Metal, but I want the crowd blood thirsty when our boys take the ice at home during a playoff game against Boston. The Goo Goo Dolls thing is nice in theory, but I'm sorry, it just isn't edgy enough. I don't want to feel all warm and fuzzy about Buffalo inside at puck-drop; I want the arena to do its best impression of the Roman Colosseum
As for goal songs, I think the best ones are the songs that extend the crowd's jubilation. Chelsea Dagger is a good example, as is/was Song 2 by Blur, but that one has just been beaten to death over the years. I personally like "Lonely Boy" because the mood of the song extends the excitement of the goal. That IMO is the most important factor.

I care if it's Buffalo, largely because I live here and I understand the unique civic pride Buffalo takes in its native sons and daughters. I'm not picking on lonely boy, but I'd prefer a song that means more when played in Buffalo than it would when played somewhere else. Point of reference: I could get the same bar food at The Well in Orchard Park or downtown at Pearl Street as I could at TGI Friday's or any other chain restaurant. I choose the Pearl or the Well because those places have character, and, for want of a better way of saying it, they're "Buffalo."
I edited this to add two more points. First, for those here who have been to a Bills game, I hope you feel the same way I do when the shout song is played after a touchdown. I'm happy to say I re-learned the words to that song this year, and I get the chills every time 70,000 people sing it at a meaningful moment. The New England game alone was worth the price of season tickets last year just for that reason. The atmosphere in the arena has been subdued this year, and one way to liven things up is to get the crowd singing to something like the shout song or the Blackhawks' goal song.
Second, for all the metal people here, I'm not digging on your taste. I'm likely not in your age group anymore, and I'm not into the genre (although I am vaguely familiar with local band ETID), but I respect the energy in the music. Nevertheless, the music at this and any other event is generally targeted at the critical mass of paying customers, and in the Sabres' case, I don't think the metalheads contribute more to the bottom line than the 35-year old professional who has two 100-level season tickets and a couple of beers at each game and prefers to relive the glory days with his mid- to late-90s bands.

Well, find me a song that's "Buffalo" and doesn't suck as a goal song. I think we just need to appropriate something good and make it "Buffalo" by having the good taste to adopt it before anyone else.
