I have a question that I know has probably been asked a zillion times and I was hoping someone would save me the trouble of reading older threads. What is the age cutoff for eligibility at the World Juniors?
is it a problem if they turn 20 during the tournament? I know Jeff Carter turns 20 on Jan. 1.
No it isn't. As long as you are born in 1985 or later you are eligible for the tourney. Jan 1st, 1985 is ok, but Dec. 31st, 1984 is not. It is mainly a tournament for 19 yr olds and there won't be a huge amount of 1986 or 1987 players.
Nevver think of these tournaments as having an age limit (this goes not only for hockey but for some other sports such as soccer too). Think of them as having a birthdate limit, in this case- Jan. 01/85 or after.
Same goes for the draft- this year it's Sept. 15th 1987.
