Easily RNH for me. He is still only 3 point behind Landeskog with 22 fewer games played. Its ridiculous to point at Landeskog's defensive acumen and not at RNH's obvious superiority on the offense. He is dominating the PP, and he is tied for 12th in the league for pp points while being 15 games behind the next player with fewest games. Not to mentioned he outplays Lendeskog every time they come together. It really is a no brainer as far as im concerned.

Kinda funny that the best 18 year old in the world had his shot at the Calder derailed by faceplanting into the boards like a 4 year old.

A Calder trophy winner's agent would I imagine use this to get a higher $$ second contract. It would be nice if RNH did win , but might cost the Oilers more on the cap hit in a couple of years time

Your last statement is the clincher - RNH was not healthy. Those who vote for the Calder will not take that into consideration. Land has been an effective player on his team and has been consistently an impact player for Colorado which has helped the team make the playoffs.

RNH has been amazing this year. If he doesn't win the Calder, who cares? He has shown Oiler fans that he will be a dominant force going forward even if he doesn't win the Calder.
First of all, he didn't use a strawman. Second of all, Colorado has to make the playoffs first.

Fairly sure his cap hit will be significant in the future whether he wins the Calder or not. I'm sure his agent is aware of his potential.

Why should the team's performance matter for Calder voting? For MVP, I can get the argument that for someone to be an MVP they should have created some value (i.e. the team is in the playoffs). But basically no rookie is able to single-handedly make a team a contender...look at how terrible the Penguins did even with Sidney Crosby and Malkin that first season.

I have seen a lot of Landeskog recently and he is having a much bigger overall impact on the games than RNH is right now so IMO unless Landeskog completely goes cold or RNH goes into god mode that Landy has the Calder on lockdown but honestly, it really doesn't matter. I have little doubt that RNH will wind up being the better player long term.

No disagreement - however RNH has two strikes against him - plays for the Oilers and has not played a full season.

I think it will predictably go to the rookie point scoring leader.

IMHO most likely RNH.

Unfortunately, I see that being a huge disadvantage.

Landeskog is on too much of a roll. I think he will take it, but, honestly, I don't think it matters. When you think of it, imagine how much pressure it puts on a 18 year old. Might be better to not win it. Nuge can still know if hadn't got hurt he would have won it, to me that is all that matters

Nugent-Hopkins is my favorite Oiler right now, but I don't see how he can steal the Calder from Landeskog unless Landeskog either gets injured or RNH goes on some kind of absolutely incredible tear.

He's still not back to normal yet, if he regains his form from earlier in the year with 10 games left IMO he has a shot.

you can tell when a player gets hot because he gets alot of chances to score, and starts cashing in. RNH is getting those chances, and some reward as well, although last night against the worst team in the league, he may still use it as a motivator to increase his momentum going forward. he is in tough i will give him that, with 7/12 games being on the road, though not against the most elite teams in the league, he should do well.

Wow, I didn't know he was only three points out. Played his best game in ages last night so hopefully he can carry that into another big performance.

2 points for Landeskog and RNH tonight keeping pace with two of his own. Landeskog and RNH are really heating up and I think will separate themselves from the pack in these final dozen games, and the 2 games in hand from the oilers will come in handy imo.
From what I have read, many of the voters including Mark Spector have already made up their mind. Landeskog is going to win.

Even if RNH has more points with 20(?) less games played?

Yep. I have read many twitter responses from media members basically saying that they are voting for Landeskog.

Spector said last week that he was voting for him because he was the more complete player.

Unless RNH blows him away, there is no way he wins the Calder.

landeskog has played 22 more games than RNH, if RNH doesnt get hurt and is at his .86ppg then he is looking at around 70pts for the season........as an 18 y/o rookie, RNH is clearly the best rookie the injury just set him back and will probably cost the calder. honestly i doubt he cares, he is a team player.

Nuge is absolutely FEASTING on the powerplay. Same as in junior.
He is THE reason our powerplay is tops.

He has the second most assists among forwards in the NHL on the powerplay.. in ~10 less games than everyone else.
