Good? he should not be allowed to return after he left and has been gone 3 or 4 years. If he wanted to return he should not be allowed till next year. He'll play what 10 or 12 games plus playoffs and gets to burn a year off his contract shouldnt be allowed.
Suter is having a brutal game. Iv posted on the Preds board and apparently him and Weber have been mailing it in these past few weeks.
Suter specifically looks extremely soft. Considering the love this guy gets and what people are proposing on paying this guy, I'd pass from what I'm watching

Why shouldn't he?
Preds already were punished when he fled to Russia while under contract
He is still under contract with Preds and his return would be fulfilling his obligation ,, An obligation the Preds were robbed of years ago
To not allow him to return would be punishing the Preds again for something out of there control

So what you're saying is that the grass isn't as green when you actually see it?

Well I don't know about you, but it sounds like he watched him one time. Maybe instead of them mailing it in, they might be starting to become fatigued. Both play more than 26 minutes a game. They could be wearing down from the long haul here. That would be my guess. And I would still think that even though the Preds fans think they are "mailing it in". We know how irrational fans can be on this site if a player isn't performing up to "standards".
I have watched Suter a ton this year. He has been great. I would definitely be willing to throw up to 7 million at him. But I wouldn't go higher than that.
But do you know his is quite impressive. Eberle! Man the kid has a motor on him.

Yep, I will admit, outside of the Flyers/Preds game earlier this year, this is the only full Predators game I have watched. I have watched some bits and pieces here and there, but honestly, the Predators aren't a team that interests me that much.
As for your comments, absolutely, fatigue surely can be playing an effect on the guy. I just checked NHL.com and he is third in the league in average icetime. Clearly he is logging some huge minutes. It may seem like an obvious thing to say but if you're getting paid $7 million a year, you battle through it. Elite defensemen who play big minutes, like a Chris Pronger, conserve and use their energy efficiently so they don't burn out by the end of the year and into the playoffs.
The fact that Preds fans are even using the term "mailing it in" concerns me. It's entirely possible that they are exaggerating, but the fact that it has even been brought up isn't what I expect from a guy who will command big bucks.
This is the stretch drive to the playoffs. We saw our players last year "mail it in" and look where it got them.
You obviously know way more than I do because you watch Predators games more than I do, and I absolutely realize that. I just really didn't get that great of an impression from him today. And go by a group of fans and their reactions, it didn't instill any confidence in me that this is the guy we want to go all out for.

I completely understand everything you said. I will wait to see how he performs in the playoffs, if he struggles there and has no serious issue(injury) then I might question his character. But I still have trouble doing that because the last several years there never has been an issue with it.

You make a valid point, for sure. And, honestly, I haven't seen a full game of him, so I'm just blowing air here. I was basically only aiming at the fact that a lot of times we wish for players, and would give huge contracts to, that we don't see as much and therefore make either good or bad impressions of without the latter actually being that well-founded. For example, many people here were (are?) willing to trade huge assets for him, even with the UFA status, and I just think "the grass is always greener..." came into play there. I have no doubt that he's probably one of the best defensmen in the league currently and take your word on his good play, but I'm also sure he's not impeccable, and that he wouldn't fare as well here all the time as some might think.
I don't know about the Preds fans on this site, but I think some of the resentment/feelings that Suter's not been giving quite his all lately, comes from the fact that he's not signed a new contract yet (and apparently has not been quite saying the right things, if you are a Predators fan at least). Same goes for Weber somewhat.
Dad was saying today how the Rangers fans at MSG had this one chant in the 80's after the Lindbergh accident and death that went "Buy a Porche Hextall buy a Porsche".
.............wow. I know Flyers fans have a reputation but that's awful.
That sequence set the tone for the game. Its an intense playoff atmosphere.
There are nearly no fights in the playoffs. It's a bloodthirsty pathetic crowd if they need fights to get them into a game; and players that need fighting to get motivated belong in the MMA, not the NHL.
