Is the phrasing in the rulebook say that it has to be a fight? Because Boyle technically wasn't fighting...and wasn't given a fighting major. How could Dubinsky get 3rd man in?

Also, it's stupid that there's a 3rd man in, and not a 4th, 5th, 6th, etc. man in. Dubinsky got penalized for being the fastest Ranger skater essentially.

Glad Ottawa is standing up for their young star though. One of the few franchises that can throw out an entire line of "enforcers" who can still play the game very well.

Stewart scratched for StL. Wonder if he's getting the bad draw in Hitch's system? He was supposed to be the next big time 70pt power forward.

Also, good for Washington on the W. Playing much better team defense, but they still don't have that same spirit and excitement from a couple years ago.

Kerry Fraser on TSN said that he would have given Carkner a match penalty, which would have nullified any potential third man in; the consensus seems to be that Dubinsky should not have been given third man in penalty.

Alfredsson knocked out of the game, at least temporarily, by Hagelin. Ottawa ties it on the 5 minute powerplay.

I have a huge man crush on Karlsson. That kid is going to be elite if he isn't already. Haven't seen an offensive defenseman skate or play the game with speed like him in years.

Oshie just okie-doked the entire Sharks team to set up Backes for a goal. Easily my favorite player in the league...which is saying a lot.

GREAT handshake by the Senators assistant coaches. I hope everyone caught it. That's how a handshake by two assistant coaches should be done.

I thought it was a lot more serious than it was, I was thinking he got cut with a skate in the pile on.

I'm all for the rough hockey, but the Blue's antics right now are nothing short of pathetic.

Really? I only saw the highlights, but it seemed as if the Bruins got lots of scoring chances on terrible defensive plays, where the guys would just be left open with the Capitals all bunched up on one side of the rink. This time the Bruins didn't take advantage of that, but I doubt they're going to keep missing their chances like that.

That was bush league.

Dubinsky may get a third man in by the way he's reacting.
That was just classless, and I wonder what Shanahan does. I think it definitely deserves a couple of games, because you don't just start unloading on someone. On the other hand, Boyle perhaps did deserve it after that Karlsson thing in the first game, but not like this.

Throwing out Dubinsky was weird, as well. But at least he gets a good .gif out of it, so it's not all bad.

While it would be advantageous for the Flyers if the Senators beat the Rangers, that is just bush league on the Senators' part. Obviously targeting Boyle for giving Karlsson a going-over at the end of game 1, but Carkner deserves to sit for a game or two.

He should and probably will. But again, this is why fighting exists, whether or not Boyle chose to partake...to allow the players to police the game. The Sens made it clear that Karlsson was not going to be a target without some repocussions.

Yeah, I understand that, and it's something this franchise did with regularity for decades. But the rules have changed, and seeing Carkner kneeling over Boyle firing punches as fast as he can, then seeing Konopka running a Ranger into Lundqvist later in the game and stuff like that was cheap.

I thought it was dumb. In fact, Roenick's saying the same thing right now. They absolutely needed to send a message, but had really terrible timing. They're very lucky they killed off that 5 min major, and even more lucky that Dubinsky got tossed too.

But again it's a difficult spot with these two teams. They can throw out a handful of enforcers each...who are also very effective players that can play at any time.

Daymond Langkow is still playing? He's gotta be at least 38.

And Bickell scores the winner. Phooey.
