Add in a new coach (aka Eakins), a veteran goalie (aka Vokoun), and guys like Ashton, Holzer, Blacker and Colborne able to cover for injuries, that is looking like a lot better team then the one we have right now.

8/9 is not a bad spot in the draft either, though. Obviously we want top-3 for the centres, but plenty of good players after.
The team looks really deflated and I want them to turn it around and make the playoffs. Saying that though if they did continue their drop it would be nice to abuse our resources in the money we put into scouting and actually scout some high end picks for once.
If we tank I want a huge drop, that way Wilson will most likely be fired (probably not) and is replaced by Keith Acton. Hopefully Burke re-evaluates his team once again just like he did when he valued our team wrong when he got here and sold Versteeg and Beauchemin.
I've actually been impressed with our drafting so far under Burke, I'd be confident in giving him more draft picks to mold the team going forward. If only he sold some players for some 1st rounders like he said he was getting offered.

with the way they are playing now and with our remaining schedule, we could realistically lose 80% of our remaning games...
While I'd love to see playoffs, right now it doesn't seem possible. The team is playing badly and we're up against a lot of teams that being in the same division play each other often. Florida, Tampa, Washington, Winnipeg are all going to get points on a regular basis and right now we can barely get any points at all.
Instead of finishing 10th or so I'd rather just get the best pick possible and sort this team out in the summer.
This loss was the straw that broke the camel's back for me, I very much believe they'll miss the playoffs now. With that said, while I'd never cheer against them on a game-to-game basis, I'd rather do poorly down the stretch if it leads to us having a high draft pick and a coaching change, versus what will probably be another finish just outside the playoffs. I'm saving my hope for next year at this point and not getting emotionally involved in games for the rest of the year, barring a massive win streak that puts us back into 8th or higher.

mehhh..... to me going for a lottery pick is passe. I'd rather try something different this year and make the playoffs. I'm getting bored of the lottery pick game let's break the mold and be a fanbase that actually hopes our team wins. I think it'll be fun.
