I'd rather keep him to relieve Hodgson of a lot of pressure.

Its more that people want the Rochester core gone because they haven't been able to win anything, it just happens Roy's the member of the core having a bad year this year so a lot of the blame is being put in him

rumors sir rumors. Or do you need to hear about Mr. Nightlife Roy? When a player cares more about going out than his play on ice then there is a problem... simple as that.

Rumors from where? His persona just seems like a party kinda guy and there's nothing wrong with that. It's not like he's semin where his ex teammates are commenting on his bad attitude

I suppose you are right. Allow me to rephase. Because (I feel) he is a locker room cancer and the team played better without him last year.

Ahhh tis a good point, but I feel our locker room problems stem deeper than Derek Roy, Either way I agree it's time for out with the old core and in with the new core

A number of factors have led to his... lack of popularity

1. The team played better without him last year
2. He hasn't had a good year this year
3. He seems to turn the puck over a lot
4. He used to be known as a diver
5. He's apparently got a reputation as a party-guy
6. He's a small center in a market longing for a big center

These 6 points have outweighed some positives in most people's minds

1. He's a rather productive point producer most often
2. He's got a pretty decent cap number given production
3. He seems to really like Buffalo and wants to be here

I don't see the need to trade him.

Contract year coming up. I'd see what he's got.

It's an interesting topic for sure. I'm not going to judge wether he is a party guy or not because I don't know him but from the interviews I've heard from him recently it seems like he genuinely wants to be here and win here

It just seems like he's an individual player. Even when he's playing well and putting up points, it doesn't seem like the rest of his line feeds off him. He's got some annoying tendencies in his game, but overall he's a good player, not anywhere near as bad as some make him out to be (minus this year, anyway). That said, I think the bottom line is that this team does just as well without him as they do with him, and he should fetch a nice return due to his past point totals.

We want him traded because we enjoy *****ing about the dearth of centers on this team as we're tossing the few functional centers we do have off a cliff, all the while convincing ourselves that it's all perfectly logical and necessitated by the circumstances.

Truth.

It's not as simple as I want Roy gone.... I just dislike his general attitude. I go back and forth on this, because I actually kind of like Roy. He's a good player, and a fringe #1 center. His attitude just kind of.... rubs me the wrong way. I would be ok with keeping him, but if we get a nice offer for him, I would certainly not say no.

I hate the type of player he is.
Yes he's skilled but he's also undersized, one-dimensional, selfish, and a diver.

Bingo. And toss in his late-nights on Chippawa. He isn't dedicated to winning or leading a hockey club. He is seen as one of the core members of this team, but he is not a player i want to be a role model for the younger players. For the younger players, such as Myers, Ennis and now Hodgson, to take over the locker room, besides stepping on others' toes, you replace the current "core" and by association the others pick it up.

Like, when the Sabres got rid of Satan and Zhitnik, and others stepped up. Additional by subtraction.

But yeah I don't want to trade Roy. Most posters just dislike him for what type of person they "VIEW" him to be, he also USED to be a diver and Sabre fans have never really got over that.

If we ever got rid of him though I think he'd be a great fit for the Hurricanes...lol

we need to use him to trade for a big center. simple as that. this team will not win with Roy, Ennis, and Hodgson up the middle. No way in hell, you have to be big up the middle.

While he hasn't looked terrible as a center, I feel like Ennis will be moved back to wing and spend most of his career there. I'm not sold on him being a long-term center. As nice as Hodgson is, I definitely don't believe we're done addressing the center issue yet. I do think that three noticeably undersized forwards is too much though, and we should probably move one of them out. Between Gerbe, Ennis, and Roy, I'd rather trade Roy, as long as we're getting a replacement center in return. I don't hate him though.

Used to dive?
He still does it plenty but no one buys it.
