Currently 10th with a 2.1% of winning the lottery and drafting 6th.

Sorry if there's another thread, hadn't checked. FWIW, I don't want to be rid of him & I still think he is valuable but would really like a top-5 pick if Galchenyuk or Grigorenko were still available. Any good matches out there?

If you don't move up, would you guys be happy with Girgensons? He's projected to be taken at #8-10 or so.

That isn't panic....it is beyond stupidity.

I only wish the teams struggle would cause the majority on those idiots to stop watching hockey....or more importantly...stop talking about hockey.

TBH I doubt thats enough to move into the top 3 or 4. But maybe #5 will need a dman and be ok with moving down in the draft.

To move into the top 3, Gardiner + IMO

As an Islander fan I'd listen if we had the 5th pick and you were 10th

Completely agreed. I have started to visit the Leafs forum less and less because all it is is negtivity and 13 year olds freaking out.

Gets stupid after a while.

Of the current top 5 (bottom 5 however you chose to look at it) I'd think the only team that might bite on a deal like that would be the Islanders. The Islanders have been looking for a top 4 dman to pair with Streit all year, maybe Schenn could be that guy. I can't see the Oil or the CBJ wanting to lose their picks, Montreal doesn't need Schenn and they could be picking top 2 so no way they do that and the Canes have young D in their system so no real need for Schenn.

It would have been more likely last year after a good season from Schenn, but he's struggled a bit this year so his value is lower then it was.

Why would Toronto do this? Luke Schenn was drafted 5th overall. They would already have a top 10 pick in a deep draft. This would be a step backwards. Take the top ten pick and develop whoever you draft with that pick.

I proposed Schenn because I know proposing Mac or marginal prospects on this board doesn't fly and instead of turning this thread into a flame war I'm more interested to see which teams would actually be open to dealing a top-5 pick. Seems like NYI would be one of them. 1/5, anybody else?

Nope. As bad as Luke Schenn has been, I've got a lot of confidence in him. Ron Wilson and his ****** system makes defenseman and goaltenders' job 10x worse than it is.

Schenn-Gardiner is a pairing I look forward to for a good amount of years.

The Leafs, if they can continue to play like this, will get a top ~7 pick and from there you can move up without giving up a guy like Schenn.

If I'm Edmonton and I've got anything from 2-5 I'd probably take it.

Edm 2nd overall and Linus Omark for Luke Schenn and 9th overall pick.

Oilers then select Radek Faksa

Edmonton doesn't do that, and I'm a Leaf fan..

Luke Schenn will still be a great defenseman but the Oilers need an all round defenseman at this point. If they drop down, they will do so because they know they can get Ryan Murray where they are dropping.

Luke is not going to be an offensive guy, Murray can be one of those 35-45 point guy that does it all.

Has Schenn been that bad this year? Really honest question, and maybe this isn't the place to ask it.

I laughed when certain Leaf fans insisted that he's going to turn into a 40+ point NHL defenseman (his history has just never given any indication that it might happen), but I always maintained that he had a great shot to be a really solid top 4 defensive defenseman in the not so distant future. I suppose I haven't watched nearly as many Leaf games this year with the Bruins not holding their 1st rounder anymore, so it's an honest question. What happened?

Nobody has ever said that He could be a 25-30 point guy but 40 is out of his league.

I think it's a horrible move by Toronto, but if I'm Edmonton I seriously consider it.
