regardless of backstroms contract, hes a good goalie. Not to mention all the new hype with granlund and other prospects coming, and possible good free agents. There is alot to be excited about and work hard for over the summer.
I would not mind seeing Backstrom with a quality defense in front of him. I mean, if he's as good as he is now with the waves upon waves of total crap we've put in front of him to elbow and run into him try to help him out, how good would he be with some real defenders?

Yeah I can't wait to watch all the free agents pass over the Wild and go to other teams even if we offer the most money.

Hell, between their two goalies, Emery is the better one and he is also crap on a stick.

Hammer regressed horribly. No thanks.

I think we'll be able to get a good free agent this year, we've got boatloads of cap space, though I'd rather see it spent on defense.

I'd give this proposal some serious consideration.

I'm still batting around the idea of trading for Jordan Staal. I wouldn't do it if it was say Coyle + 7th overall, but something less might make sense for us. But, I can see it being hard to work out cap wise, since the Pens might want to unload Martin's contract, or take no salary back.

Jordan Staal will be way too expensive. No thanks.

I think our assets would be better spent on D. I would for sure do something for Martin, but while I like J Staal I think we'd still lack goal scoring in the top six AND two top-4 Dmen.

I honestly don't think Shero will move Martin. The fans may use him as their scrotum based punching bag, but I doubt the management thinks poorly of him or his play...

Pretty sure. Okposo is a young player who's production has been consistently at a point that Clutterbuck hasn't reached yet, and probably never will. I'm not sure a project defensive prospect and a 2nd are enough to make up that difference.

Not so sure that Capuano feels that way about his consistency... He was getting shifted around on lines a lot last season. That could have been his attempt at finding a better fit for Johnny T, but I remember a few games where Okposo was being relegated to the fourth line...

Sure, doghouse effect, but he never made it back to the top line after that and I think that the majority of the time he was on their third line...

And Clutterbuck was more consistent? I remember Okposo being a bit snake-bitten, but he's still a much better player than Clutterbuck, and I just don't feel that the other pieces are enough.

According to some beat writer out of Edmonton, Calgary is shopping Jay Bouwmester in an attempt to "move up into the top 5."

On a scale from 1 to murder, how would you feel about moving 7th overall for JayBo and 14th overall?

To me, it's an issue of timing. If we did that, we couldn't get Suter. So no go.

It does more or less rule out Suter, but a bird in hand...

I think it's worth considering, but not sure I'd do it. He does have a NTC anyway so it might be a moot point.

Manslaughter.

The guy just plays hockey because hes good at it and can make money from it. He does not have the heart and soul of a true hockey player, just the talent that a lot of other true hockey players with no talent would love to have.

And then theres his playoff curse.

I just dont want him on our team unless he actually decides he wants to play with all his heart.
