We shouldn't need him to beat two pretty subpar teams. Let him rest up, don't want any repeats of the Chara shot.
Yes, and no. The margin of difference between beating a bad team and losing to them is still pretty small. Even the worst team in the league wins every third game. I'm not saying we shouldn't beat these teams, but to simply assume we will is just a little presumptuous, even with our full lineup. That said, I'd rather him rest up and come back at 100%, even if it means we lose a game or two. As we all saw last season, when he went down the ship pretty much sunk with him.

I'm not worried. This is hockey, not basketball. He's probably going to play tomorrow.

Im concernced because he is the core of this team. Him getting hurt 2 yrs ago is the reason we missed the playoffs on the last day of the season. I guarantee if he didnt miss any games we wouldnt have missed the playoffs by a damn point. Ike davis had a bruise and look what happened to him. Sit him vs carolina and tampa...NO CHANCES.

Callahan only missed 5 games that season. He was also mired in a horrible slump down the stretch (he only had one point in his previous 9 or 10 games). Losing Callahan last season hurt a lot, I think, but Cally wasn't going to change much in the couple games he missed in the 09/10 season.
Hopefully it's just a bruise and not more serious/personal.
If he can't play, it will be interesting to see what Torts does. Can Hagelin play on the right? Can Dubi? The best case scenario seems to me to be some combination of Hags/Richards/Dubinsky, but I bet Torts just puts Prust on the 2nd line, moves Rupp or Feds up to Boyle's line and plays the new guy on the 4th.
Any update on Callahan's status and if he will be in the lineup tonight or tomorrow? Personally, I'd let him rest. Whether it's a bruised foot or a family issue, the captain has played in every game this year and could use a day off.
Or, knowing Cally, if it is a family issue he'll probably have a Brett Favre-esque 5 point game tonight
With or without Callahan, the Rangers should win this game. If he misses tomorrow night too that may turn out to be a good thing, he will get some rest and be able to heal some of his bumps and bruises.

Lol! I remember a few years ago, they brought out a wheel chair to remove Paul Pierce from a game due to an injury. Next to baseball (where the players are softer than the Pillsbury doughboy), basketball players are not big on playing thru injuries.
