IIRC it is like right at the deadline, but for all intents and purposes, yeah probably day after the deadline.

Injury prone

(sorry, those are 3 words on Gagne. But it's not like we didn't know this going into the season though - sorry I'm way past a word now)

Anything further on Gagne, or Parse? Parse I'd be shocked to see back as a King, but I'm curious if he's recovering well.

This is Gagne's 7th concussion.

For his own safety, he probably shouldn't come back. I hope he saved and invested his money well.

If Gagne can't come back this year, he really should retire

I know a few of you might be thinking this...fire Kompon and hire Gagne as PP coach...

Who is the Insider? And is it his opinion or has he talked to Gags or people around him?

I wish he'd retire, it's not worth it.

Here's an update from ESPN Insider:

No retirement for Gagne

9:02AM ET

Simon Gagne | Kings

Simon Gagne will probably be out the rest of the season after suffering a concussion, which has led to some talk that he could retire. But that's apparently not in the plans, as RDS's Renaud Lavoie writes that the no more retirement talk for Gagne, and that he's "working hard to come back this season, or playoffs. For sure he'll play in the next one."

Playoffs? It seems unlikely at this point, but it's quite an interesting statement given how cautious the Kings will likely be with Gagne given all we know about concussions are this point. So if this is a real possibility, there has to be some very positives signs in his recovery.

He wouldn't be skating if he was considering retiring. Most guys that have had severe injuries like Lappy and Savard didn't even get back on the ice.

Lappy came back in the playoffs and also in training camp. Since then he's been on the ice in a coaching capacity.

Not saying it is, but that could be interpreted differently...

I think by "this season" it includes playoffs. If Gagne is preparing to come back it's going to be for next season. It appears too soon for him to come back during the playoffs and they could also risk losing him even longer.

I have heard that Gags is out and has suffered a slight set back. That is common when you suffer a serious concussion but in his case it seems to be one step forwards three steps back. That typically happens when you push too hard too soon.

Gags may actually end up retiring if it keeps going this way, not likely but possible. Either way he would be welcomed back for the playoffs providing he made it back but if not he should take a look at how messed up he has been the past few years and retire. Risky signing who has done exactly what allot of us thought would happen.

I hope he makes it.

He can just go on LTIR like Lappy did so he'll get paid for the final year. I wish he'd retire, it's not worth it.

What a risky signing for both Gagne and Pronger. Both players should retire.

Main difference being that Gagne isn't an asshat.

The way I interpret it is DL is saying that Gagne's not coming back unless we go for a long run into the playoffs. Like round three or four. That'd give Gagne another month or more, and a lot of improvement can come in a month.

If we get bounced in the first two rounds (or not make the playoffs, which better not friggin happen ) then I doubt we see Gagne.

I agree. Pronger is an asshat. Is there a relevance between gags and assha i mean Pronger that I have missed or are you simply making a statement of fact?

Bernie Nichols???? I know he has said he has no interest in being an actual coach, but for a guy that doesn't "want" to coach he sure has been traveling with the Kings a lot lately.
