New 2nd line

How did you guys feel about last nights second line of Ullstrom-Nielsen-Bailey? I personally thought they had the most jump all game, and besides grabner's breakaways, I thought they had the best opportunities of the game. I really like the chemistry that seems to be developing between Bailey and Ullstrom.

Now I would just like to see Martin back on the 3rd line, and either pando or reasoner scratched and have a 4th of Cizikas Nino and garbage pail

I said it in last nights GDT

I like Bailey on the wing. With the exception of some time with Okposo in Josh's rookie year, this is the first time Josh has had a chance to play with some decent talent. They were the best line 5 on 5. Hopefully their success continues.

I'd like to see it again.

I'd also wouldn't mind seeing Okposo sitting next to Reasoner up in the press box for the next 3 games either. Screw it, let Rhett take his spot.
That may be a bit of an over-reaction but he was effin brutal last night. No fire. No balls. Just useless. I wanna see him play with a little more sense of urgency out there. Last nights performance was Kovalev-like.

Bailey has a lot of talent, he needs to play with some good players, and last night he finally got that opportunity. I have been saying it all year, Bailey will turn into a 50-60 point player SOON.

Yes. Next stop for Okposo is paying Wang $5 for a bottle of water while viewing the action from above.

I really don't understand what has happened to Okposo, the kid has so much talent. He showed so much heart when he was first entering the league, he was absolutely dominating in the corners and would drive hard to the net. He looked like a future 70+ player, but now he looks like he may be a 30-40 point player. He lacks heart, determination, and drive. Its unbelievable, you would never know it was the same player. It is really disappointing, the kid is just falling apart, 2 years ago he was bar none my favorite player, and now I almost don't want him on this team.

I have been a proponent of moving Bailey to wing since his first season. He would put up close to PAP numbers if he had more time and space to use his playmaking skills, he just can not execute on offense and defense on the same shift, his hockey sense just is not there yet (yet being the keyword).

My favorite Okposo moment was when he lost his **** during that Minnesota game a season or so ago, I loved that fire and intensity. He needs a swift kick in the ass, he needs to realize that even though he was hurt once you can't avoid being hurt in the future and need to play the body.

Right now he is a TWF with a Power Forwards build, he needs to get his identity back. His confidence is at it's lowest level ever in his career. He has the time to get it back, he is only 23. He needs another good benching.

Your absolutely right!!! I do not know what has happened to this guy. I thought we got the best player out of the draft. I saw his first 2 years and felt that we got our own Jerome Ignilia.

Did that injury really mess him up that bad? He got a 5 yr deal regardless when Garth could of given him a 1 year. I dont understand what has happened. I am guessing its Capuano's coaching but really how much does a coach truly have an effect on your game??

Showed glimmers of hope but as ive said many times this season Kyle Okposo needs to be traded!!

Same goes for Josh Bailey

Im not going to cream in my pants every time he scores a goal and looks good.

Where is that Okposo? That drive to the net Kyle that made him my favorite player? That type of defense that made me think he could one day be a Selke finalist. If any player on this team needs a tough coach who will rattle the cage, it's Kyle.

Doug Weight will do wonders for him

I loved the 2nd lines play last night. Bailey needed something like that to raise his game.

As for Okposo, he should be put on the 4th line or the press box. I understand players go into slumps, but even in a slump, he should be using his build to bang bodies, all that requires is effort!!!

That Okposo shows up every game. It's just that this is his ONE move and he rarely scores on it. Everytime I watch him come down the wing, I know he's going to try that move and most times it fails. He should have been moved if anyone offered anything of real value at the trade deadline. I agree, though...he needs to watch the game from the rafters until he gets his head straight.

it isn't the move. it's the drive to the net that is impressive. He does the move quite often, but he rarely drives to the net after.

I am more than willing to concede that point as I am probably jaded right now after what we have all been through the past several seasons and really since the early 90s. Heck, after watching this team in the mid- to late-70s and through the Cup years, I guess I am definitely jaded.

I didn't want to start another thread for this but it is very clear to me, that at this point, Josh Bailey benefits bigtime by playing on the wing. I think there's too much responsibility in being a center and it gets into his head. Keep him on the wing for the rest of the season, basically 1/4 of it, and see how it goes. Doing so will open a spot for Strome to center the 2nd line eventually.

Mod Edit: Moved this post from the Islanders-Flyers GDT to here.

I definitely like this new look line...it's about time Cappy tried something different. The 3rd line is interesting too - Grabs, Cizkas and Okposo
