He was at the Xcel on Saturday to receive his best defenseman award so hopefully Fletch was whispering in his ear

Hope New York gets nabbed for tampering if that ends up being what's going on.

How would they get nabbed for tampering? I've only read the basic parts of this whole Radulov kerfuffle.

Ha. It sounded different in my head. I just woke up and decided to post. What an idiot. Meant to make a jab at the Rangers but hit submit before I finished typing. Wish I could delete posts.

Rofl, posting before your brain turns on can be a mistake. Yeah, he's only going through New York because you can't fly direct from Moscow to Nashville.

So if this Radulov thing really does go through, what kind of CBA provisions can we expect ownership to push for because of this?

Cause you have to imagine every other GM in the league is going to want to force anyone pulling something like this to go through waivers in the future.

There's nothing they can do. Rads is a very special case.

He bolted mid-contract, and because of him leaving the NHL and KHL made an agreement that isn't going to happen anymore. So it was decided that if Rads ever wanted to come back, he would have to honor the remaining two years on his contract.

This type of thing is not ever going to happen again. There's not much any whining GMs can do. And apparently, every other GM in the central is pissed(meaning St. Louis, Detroit, Chicago, Columbus), but no GMs outside of that circle have any issues with it, as far as I've read.

Individual GMs might be upset about their playoff chances, but the league as a whole greatly benefits by Radulov returning to the NHL. It really shows to those rare few who might try to bolt for the KHL that things come back around eventually. It's great PR for the league, and may even reduce some of the concern that a few teams still have about Russian players.

Ultimately, what has happened is the League (read as: Bettman) determined the league's official interpretation of the CBA vis a vis Radulov's circumstance. There's only two groups that can challenge that interpretation, the league itself (which would require Bettman or another central office dissentor) and the NHLPA. Something a lot bigger than this would be needed for the league to actually attempt to make a change regarding it. The only potential CBA implication I can see is for an explicit rule detailing exactly this outcome being added.

Surprisingly enough, apparently this isn't the first time this has happened. I don't remember who it was, but apparently some Detroit player went through a similar (though much less high profile) issue.

I'm sorry but that Rangers-Devils staged fight was ridiculously stupid and embarrassing to watch as a hockey fan.

Re: Radulov, it's all kosher in my mind. He bolted for Russia, they suspended him rather than trading the contract, and now he needs to finish the year to actually fulfill his contract, and I'm sure he's just doing it to try to get a ring and make more money (NHL vs KHL bidding war).

I'd love to see Nashville get bounced in the first round, even swept. Don't know why. Just don't like the team.

If the Jets make the playoffs, MTS may be the most hostile place to play in:

Imagine if they draw the Rangers after the "fight" last night.

Yeah I'm a fan of fighting having its place in the game but beginning the game with a stage fight is not it.

Now that Radulov's returning, who's next in line as the "best player not currently playing in the NHL?"

Awesome old St Louis Blues media guide

One of my favorites, they say that being 6' 175 is "big for a forward"

Here's a little tidbit about our old friend Cam Barker that might make people smile:

Quote:
Jim Matheson ‏ @NHLbyMatty
Will Cam Barker ever play another game for Oilers? 10th straight scratch tonite in Nash, (13 of last 15). Oil has 8 D. Barker contract up
What did we trade for him again? Wasnt he a 3rd overall 1st round draft pick?
