Don't Fire Wilson

I'm really hoping Burke extends him another year. Best thing that could happen for this team.

Oh yes, In fact Burke should give him a 5 year $100M contract!

He was voted the #1 coach to play for.... right.....

If your coach is saying its a good day to lose, that doesnt sound like much inspiration/ motivation for the team lol

LOL. After that speech, I wouldn't blame any hockey team if they got swept 4-0 in Finals

The puzzled look on the players faces is amazing.

Motivation is a coach's weapon, to be able to inspire it in your players not all coach's can. Here is the best ever in motivating players, see the fire and passion in Lombardi. I think you need this if you are to be a great coach.

I agree with OP, Wilson's putting in his time. Any PATIENT fan can see that this entire franchise is slowly coming around from the bottom up and I think its well worth while to keep Ronnie around till next year atleast. This team right now was not guaranteed to make it to the playoffs (at best challenge for 8th), the roster isn't exactly SET yet. We have a lot of KEY pieces in place for the future and by next year even I fully expect this team's current core to compete much harder and place somewhere around 6-8 in east. These are just growing pains. Our 3rd line is a black hole, it will only get better in the coming years.

I know everyone is furious because we were in the top 8 for about 95% of the season thus far and that sort of shattered our tempered expectations. We all experienced the highs and expected it to become the norm but as usual inconsistencies will occur and we're witnessing it now. Coaching won't change these players, it won't make any player try any harder or less. I realize our defense is a total **** show under Wilson and that is one glaring reason why anyone would want to ship him out, BUT I think maturity of players and just letting them gel/grow together will bring them around.

We had a great stretch of 20-25 games in the middle of the season where the defense stepped up their game big time, which shows that it is doable with this team and coaching staff. We just need more consistency which will come. We've been getting ****ed up the ass by this team for decades now, I don't know why we need to rush things now, just show more patience and have faith in this team. Someday when they are respectable and challenging for the cup, we will collectively feel the greatest high no drug can ever bring.

Ron Wilson is a players coach. He's a good fit for the Leafs because of our inconsistent play. He has a lot of patience in the team as well. Our roster is improving over the years and it will only get better in the coming years so just be patient and stop your whining. We're not turning into cup contenders over night. No Coach nor GM can do it.

My biggest issue with this team is that 3rd line of Lombardi - Connolly - Armstrong. All 3 players are useless, can't finish, can't contribute any offense and continuously keep giving up goals. We know KGM line is struggling all year long, and top line continuously gets the other teams best defensive pairings/ lines so 3rd line in my eyes is the difference maker and as of this day our 3rd line is a black hole. I can promise you that if we had a better 3rd line (even the rookies slotted in) our team is far better off than we are right now.

/random rant

its psychology

put a group of soldiers in war and convince them their all going to die
and they'll perform more since they already know the out come

those boys are D-Day, dead situation yet they got out because they accepted their fate

Well he's signed for next year. Was an ok move by burke at the time, but I don't think he should be extended again unless the leafs make the playoffs next year.

Maybe there is a legal loophole where Mrs. Ron Wilson can coach the team to a last-place finish and first overall draft pick.
