Asik's minutes would go up and we'd be trying to unload Boozer for an overpaid SG in the offseason.
Which would be fine IMO. Asik on the season averages 15 MPG now, with just under 2 fouls per game. I think he could easily handle it. I just don't think he is ready for starter minutes, even if paired with Gasol in the front court, which is why I said I'd rather Taj man that 5 spot.
Overpaid SG = Joe Johnson. No thanks, still owed $88M after this year over the next 4 years. I forgot exactly how bad that contract is... and wow.
Only other two that stood out were Ray Allen, but I'm not convinced they're sellers until next year. Jason Terry was the other, but he seems happy there and I don't see any reason for Dallas to move him... Also, I'm not even sure if they're overpaid. Too lazy to luck up their contract specs at the moment.
This, even if they can't trade Boozer for someone or someones, I would rather get 2-3 players for Boozer, then you can just dump him flat out. But I would much rather have a starting 5 of
Rose
Brewer/Hamilton
Deng
Gasol
Asik/Boozer/Gibson
Noah and a first is a lot different from Noah, Watson and a first.
CJ Watson is a very solid backup PG. Not saying it'd be a deal breaker by any means, but it will hurt this team this year.
Will it really hurt that much in the playoffs? You're going to be playing Rose huge minutes. Last year he averaged 40 minutes, and his first year he averaged 44 per playoff contest. Split the difference and I'll take my chances with a lesser backup PG for 6 minutes.
Would hurt more in the regular season, but I don't care about that. This team could still make the playoffs if Rose and Pau missed half the regular season.
I've been watching the Bulls my whole life, but I never saw Jordan play. After watching some of those Cartwright teams, the Gordon/Hinrich teams, and finally a real contender, I feel blessed. No matter how banged up or how much adversity the Bulls are facing, I'll always have confidence. This team is probably going to win it this year.

They're getting a SG upgrade tomorrow. If they're luckier, they'll get Gasol and have Boozer out of there. He's the weak link against Miami. Boozer is a complete non-factor against Miami. If we somehow swing a deal to get Pau in the frontcourt with Noah and have Rose, Deng, and a SG rotation involving Brewer, Hamilton, and Korver, I'll be a damn happy man.
I know, I'm just a complete ****ing idiot. The team has gelled more together this year, will in all likelihood make a noticeable improvement tomorrow, and will have HCA.
While I think the Bulls need to make a move to get over the top, I don't think it's laughable to think they can win it. Deng and Boozer are playing better then they did last year, the team is deeper they it was, and they work harder then almost any other team.
My only issue is Boozer against the Heat. He does not show up against them. They need to either get him going when the pressure is increased or give Gibson an increased role.
Didn't matter last year. No reason for me to think it will now.
I think you are just a pessimistic Bulls fan. I understand that you may think that the team is close to being the same as last year and don't want to get your hopes up again. I'm knowledgeable, and I don't go around saying the Bulls are the best there is and ever will be. They have Rose and Deng starting, Noah, a decent rotation of guards, especially when Hamilton plays (will see him in the playoffs), and sometimes a good game from Boozer. Their depth absolutely wears teams down. Watson, Korver, Butler, Asik, and Gibson can spell people minutes, keep the lead, and wear the opponent down even more. This team has an extremely good mix of players. There's a couple stars, a good big man, a decent big man, and an absolutely incredible bench. Add another shooting guard (Ray Allen is the pipedream, but probably a Raja Bell), you improve the bench, can constantly have fresh, good players on the floor, and make the team set.
