A signed Grabovksi

Just curious. Does getting grabovski signed to a decent contract put this team into a better possition to acquire an available top line player? (Cant specify names because that would be tampering).

We all know we are strapped against the cap. So somethings gotta give.

lol how is that tampering? we arent NHL GM's. If Grabs gets 4.2-4.5 then we should be able to get a 1C. #GetzlafWatch2013

I had to chuckle at the tampering part of OP's post.

With the way Grabo is playing lately, I doubt that would affect any player's decision to come to Toronto is a positive way.

There's already a Grabo thread in which I ripped him a new one. Do you want me to continue in this one?

Hahaha, I'm sure Grabo could do more than rip you a new one. He's losing sleep over it.

As opposed to.. signing him to an unreasonable contract?

Dumb question.

Obviously signing Grabo to a reasonable deal is going to help us remain competitive and attract a top line talent.

Not signing him at all would leave us with a big hole on the 2nd line and would make our team less attractive to any potential free agent.

Remember, the main reason Brad Richards went to NYR (main.. not only) was because they were borderline contenders and needed 1-2 more pieces to get there. Coach Torts and a good amount of $$$ also helped but their status as being nearly one of the league's elite landed the player.

I fear there will be a biding war on Grabs come July 1st and we will lose him.

No goals in 15 games now Grabovski seems rather disinterested.

I will not be surprised to see Grabs and his agent test FA.

Your obviously a grabovski supporter. As in would he be considered a good peice in a package if he was signed to a longer contract.

It's not Burke's style to commit to a guy who loves playing in Toronto only to ship him out during the next year. Versteeg didn't last long but he was acquired via trade and was a bad fit.
