Hindsight is always 20/20. That is one thing I attempt to not do is play the "what if" game. I'm just upset because it always seems to happen with Minnesota teams. We either trade away premiere talent for peanuts....or we let them walk.

Even our teams are "Minnesota nice."

So Mikko Koivu is the highest-paid Finnish athlete.

Not for long, though. I think Kimi Räikkönen will surpass him this year.

Also, didn't Rinne sign a 7 million per year deal with Nashville?

I love Formula1. It always pisses me off that no one I ask has ever even heard of it though. Formula1 is the most expensive and skill required racing in the world. There's a reason no U.S. driver has ever succeeded in it. Scott Speed was the last American to ever race in it if I recall. I've always been, and will always be a huge Michael Schumacher fan.

If memory serves, NY wouldn't have been a viable option for trading Gaby. They had to trade Gomez to have the cap space to take on Gaborik.

That list is so bad that I don't even want to reply because I'd be just feeding the troll.

Seems folks in that thread like GMs who dish out krazy kontracts like those of Kovalchuk and Luongo. That's a sign of an "elite" GM.

Right now, AT THIS POINT IN TIME, this is where he should be ranked. GM's shouldn't be judged on potential, they should be judged on performance. Our young players need to make a difference in the NHL first (and I think they will).

That thread is so far down the stupid trail that it ain't worth it. You won't get far arguing with a brick wall that hasn't paid close enough attention to the team for the past 5 years.

If you want to ruffle feathers on HF, start a rank order list thread.

GMCF should be just about Average right now until our prospects succeed or don't.

He's made one of the worst prospect pools into one of the best, and that should be taken into account.

He did muck up his first coaching hire, and has gone balls-out by hiring Yeo over someone like hitchock, we'll see if that pans out.

His trades have been, minus the leddy trade, alright to "eh"
Getting brodz was a great move.
I'm still a fan of getting Gilbert for Schultz.
Kobasew was bleh.

But he shouldn't be listed (as one person described) as a GM who made the team go from bad to worse. Simply not true.

How is Paul Holmgren only "above average"? His off-season moves this year were brilliant (other than maybe signing Bryz, who still has plenty of time to turn it around).

The only real quarrel I have with that list is that he is in the same tier as Garth Snow (who I think should be one lower), but he hasn't done anything to separate himself from guys like Rutherford, Murray or Bowman. I appears to be on the right track to, but that's to be seen.

Edit: actually, I have numerous quarrels with the ranking, but it doesn't concern the Wild.

Holmgren is maybe average at best. His best moves have been "digging himself out of holes of his own making." Some can argue that he's done a great job managing how close he is to the cap, but others would simply argue back that his poor cap management is the whole reason he has a problem to manage at all. That Pronger contract is unforgivable without a cup, which ironically was most likely to come in a season he didn't play.
