Tomas Jurco or Ryan Murphy

Who has the best potential and who is more likely to pan out

I am asking cause, I am the GM of a Reconstructing team in a SIM Fantasy Hockey League and have to chose between the two in a trade.

Murphy is a much better prospect.

Jurco might be a safer bet but Murphy has a much higher ceiling.

I guess I'm confused but I don't know how to compare a forward and D, unless you mean just separately who will have a better career....I will go out on a limb and say Jurco has more career points by the end of their careers.

Murphy will likely play in the nhl next year and he's a lock to see pp time so he should put up some points.

Murphy has much higher potential (Best offensive defensemen from the OHL since possibly as far back as Fogarty) and despite obvious high risk involve I think hes the safer pick as well. Has PPG 20+ goal potential.

Jurco to me seems like a high risk high reward player as well but not to the same degree.

I meant separatly as a full time NHLer and not on pure points but more on the likeliness of becoming an essential part of their future team.

One would have to think Ellis is deserving of that title. And that is not to devalue Murphy.

With Zetterberg, Franzen, Datsyuk, Holmstrom, Bertuzzi all up there in age, I fully expect Jurco to see first line minutes and PP time in as little as four years.

Jurco seems to be a Datsyuk light, but Murphy is a darn good looking prospect. Tough to say.

Murphy is better offensively than Ellis, better shot, better vision and MUCH better skating. Ellis has more of an advantage defensively but not by much. You also have to look at the age difference when they played in the league together (3 years age difference i believe)

Murphy.

I have him in my dynasty league and if it helps further my point at all, I'm always getting offers for Murphy while Jurco sits in free agency.

How long term are we talking about here?
Because Murphy is gonna be a bigger part of his team NOW and for the next 2-3 years, but after that, Jurco could very well be getting top 6 minutes on a very good Detroit team.

Is take Murphy, because by the time Jurco has an impact, you could likely trade Murphy for him anyways, and then cash in on Jurco.

Note: think Valtteri Filppula for Jurco... Not worth having until now.

The 100 point season is misleading, Ellis can produce offensively but talent wise Murphy dwards him. Murphy really is the most offensively talented defensemen from the OHL a very long time. Only one I can think of that surpasses him was Fogarty. Might be someone I'm forgetting from 10 years ago but I don't think so.
