The "experienced" and "elite" Wings lost to the Jackets and us just a week or so ago. They also lost to the Jackets in October before the injury bug hit them hard. They are a very talented and dangerous team, but, they are far from invincible.

The "one and done" Blues won more games than anyone else in the division this season and are still in the running for the President's trophy.

I'm still looking to see who has a cakewalk in the West.

no one will have a cakewalk. this is the time of year where you see the more veteran teams ramp up their play. what happened to STL is they took their foot off the gas and DEt taught them a hard lesson, one that may have them playing SJ rather than PHO.

LA, Phoenix, and SJ are separated by a point with LA holding the division right now based on a tiebreak. It's all speculation right now when looking at matchups. The Blues will play one of the Pacific teams, as will the Canucks ... could be anyone besides the Ducks as this weekend plays out. We will play either the Wings or Hawks, but, that isn't even settled with only two games remaining.

If the Blues learned that they can't let up in any game, that is dangerous for the rest of the conference with the way they've played for the past few months. Playoff brutality begins next week.

4th is still possible, but we will need some help from NJ or CHI. The last game of the season between Detroit and Chicago could be the ultimate decider on playoff positions for all three of our teams.

Chicago is leading the Wild 1-0 with 9 minutes left in regulation.

It'd be awesome if the Hawks could overtake the Wings as the 5 seed

West field will be set if Columbus holds on against Colorado (up 4-2 after two).

Minnesota wins in a shootout. Chicago cannot catch us. If Chicago wins in regulation on Saturday, they take fifth.

Bizarro play by Clowe from the bench from last night's SJ/LA game.

So, what should the penalty have been?? Interference?? Unsportsmanlike Conduct??

It'll be interesting to see what the league has to say about it.

End his season. Period. So no one else would think of this ever again...

That's just wrong. Talk about cheating. Desires some kind of penalty or fine/suspension.

actually I thought the Clowe play was kind of funny since it didn't happen to us.....

we don't need a knee jerk reaction and a new league rule for something that I don't remember happening before.. I don't know if there is any "rule" that applies to it.

i do imagine the league will at least at a minimum send a sternly worded email to all the teams.... maybe john tortorella could send an audio message !!!

I loved hearing his press conference "honesty" after the Pens game... definitely a different press personality that Trotzy.

Found this over in the discussion on the main boards. Looks like it falls under "interference".

Quote:
56.2*Minor Penalty - A minor penalty shall be imposed on a player who interferes with or impedes the progress of an opponent who is not in possession of the puck.
A minor penalty shall be imposed on a player or goalkeeper who restrains an opponent who is attempting to “fore-check.”
A minor penalty shall be imposed on an attacking player who deliberately checks a defensive player, including the goalkeeper, who is not in possession of the puck.
A minor penalty shall be imposed on a player who shall cause an opponent who is not in possession of the puck to be forced off-side, causing a stoppage in play. If this action causes a delayed off-side (and not necessarily a stoppage in play), then the application of a penalty for interference is subject to the judgment of the Referee.
A minor penalty shall be imposed on a player who deliberately knocks a stick out of an opponent’s hand, or who prevents a player who has dropped his stick or any other piece of equipment from regaining possession of it.
A minor penalty shall be imposed on a player who knocks or shoots any abandoned or broken stick or illegal puck or other debris towards an opposing puck carrier in a manner that could cause him to be distracted. (See also Rule 53 – Throwing Equipment.)
A minor penalty shall be imposed on any identifiable player on the players’ bench or penalty bench who, by means of his stick or his body, interferes with the movements of the puck or any opponent on the ice during the progress of the play. In addition, should a player about to come onto the ice, play the puck while one or both skates are still on the players’ or penalty bench, a minor penalty for interference shall be assessed. The appropriate penalty according to the playing rules shall be assessed when a player on the players’ or penalty bench gets involved with an opponent on the ice during a stoppage in play. The player(s) involved may be subject to additional sanctions as appropriate pursuant to Rule 28 – Supplementary Discipline.
Personally, I think it warrants a misconduct as well. Better nip it in the bud while they can.
