Will we have a new GM at the start of camp?

Kind of an extension of "Will have a new GM at the deadline" poll. Which was an overwhelming no.

I get the feeling that a lot of you think we will have a new GM now. I still think we wont, and will be going into next season with Howson. I don't think there is enough pressure from the fans/media/players to make the owners make a move.

This is a pool of what you THINK will happen not what you want to happen. I am pretty sure all of you want a new GM.

Do I have faith that ownership and Priest will do the right thing?

Howson appears to be getting another year. I wish it were otherwise, but that's the way I read it.

oh, and Rimj$b will still be on tv screaming at us while "calling" the games.....................

I'm voting "yes." I think fans can directly impact this decision.

The real question for me is whether we can get Mike Priest removed. That is a much tougher job.

Then join me in refusing to call it by its proper name and henceforth use, simply, organization. (Yes, I actually posted this.)

That said, I voted yes, and not out of some wishful thinking. Rarely do I automatically assume a situation is thus just because of my opinion on it. But I have a funny feeling about how this whole mess was handled, and that it's going to result in X-GMSH.

If the last five years have taught us anything, its that this organization loves to wait until the last possible minute to "do the right thing". They struggled with firing Hitchcock and Arniel, struggled to remake the defense seemingly every year. Just about the only thing they took inititive on was the removal of Jeff Carter and it seems that it took Jeff personally embarassing or snubbing the front office for this to even happen.

Its my opinion that Mike Priest has no interest in shipping out a man that, as its quickly coming to light, does whatever he's told and takes orders well in Scott Howson. At least not yet... When he starts to get called into question, he will roll over on Howson....

Our problems are not something a new GM alone can fix. As long as Mike Priest insists on calling shots in the Hockey department, we will remain steps behind the rest of the league.

If I had to guess, I would go with.

Priest resigns at some point after they have found his replacement. The new president decides Howson's fate.

I don't think the protest will have any meaningful impact, other then, perhaps, getting more urgency in finding a suitable replacement for Priest.

I'm not sure. If you asked this 2 weeks ago I would have said absolutely not, but now I'm not sure. I can't see Priest being the President in the off season, but at the same time I also can see them keeping Howson aboard, hopefully they don't think about promoting him to team president.. I'm just not sure, I voted no because I think it is more a 60/40 in favor of him staying, but I think it's 90/10 that Priest is gone.

I voted Yes. I think the handling of the Nash situation puts it over the top. Howson will be gone by the draft imo.

And that is a move that will have a more drastic impact, in a positive way, than anything else. Priest is the root of the problem. He is the weed. We are the weed killers, united through F.A.N.S. For A New Start at www.jacketsfans.com

Does it really matter if it is the same people hiring the new GM that hired Howson? We need to start with new owners and a new President first.

Isn't really the point of the poll.

Is it the point? No. Does it matter? Yes. It should be option. Yes, No, or don't care. I know I don't care if the new GM is hired by the same people who hired Howson. I am guessing some of the other posters on here feel the same way.

i agree...w/o Priest being removed, brining in a new GM really isn't going to change any culture or practice that's currently in place...having the same mgmt in place is part of the reason some FAs aren't signing here...they don't want to be a part of the disfunction

Then feel free not to post or vote. There are plenty of places to have the discussion you're having. (You're "guessing"? I guarantee it. Check nearly every other thread in this forum.)

There could be 5,000 reasons why there might be a new GM by the start of camp. Some of them might even involve what you're suggesting. Or Howson could get hit by a bus. There are as many reasons why there might not be a new GM.

Per the OP:

So feel free to vote or post on-topic. Or put the thread on ignore if it offends you so.

Honestly, if 24 hours after the Nash incident, Howson was still employed, he's here for eternity.

Great. Thanks. Make it happen since you have the solution. Do you have an extra 100+ million floating around or do you know someone that does that would happily invest in a money losing venture?

I think Howson will be back. I've wanted him gone for over three years.

I voted no.

I said yes, as others have said the Nash situation could be Howsons high water mark, Priest, not so sure.

Somehow I think Howson will be fired, but Priest retained.

It's like getting what you want for Christmas, but then being informed that it was bought with money from slave labor.

I voted yes, because that is my wish. Priest can go to the accounting dept. while we're at it.
