But I was wondering, when the Avs were in free fall mode after being at least semi relevant it was hard to stick with players I knew wouldnt be around. So my question to you fans is; who is expected to be a long term meaningful player on CBJ right now?
Stupid technical issues killed the previous post I'd made here.
Anyway, I know this could be somewhat futile, given the possible changes in the FO/bench, plus the Nash situation hanging over the offseason, but let's opine on who on the roster right now is part of the "core," "answer" "reshaping" etc.
I'll leave Vinny out as his plan seems pretty clear, and I'll go with Johansen, JJ, Dorsett, Wiz and RJU.

While I would hesitate to list him as core, we've heard more out of Mac in the past couple months than I think we have in his entire time here. Makes me think perhaps his stock in the room has risen.
JJ, Tyutin, Wiz, & Moore. When I look at our offense, sans Nash now obviously, I see nothing to build around. Not knocking any of them, I love them, but they are a support cast. Sad.
I think going forward our core is going to be Nash, J. Johnson, Yakupov, Johansen, Moore, Mackenzie, Dorsett, Prospal, Nikitin, and Atkinson. The big problem I see is while the defensive core is pretty darn good, there isn't a goalie, and there isn't any gritty secondary scorers. If Nash is traded we will pick up at least 2 core players for next season.

Interesting no Brassard? I think Brassard is going to be here for awhile.
I don't think Brassard makes it past the draft. If he keeps playing good to finish the season you have to consider trading this guy while his value is up, because every year you don't know which Brassard is going to show up.

I currently wouldn't buy any player's jersey...but I'm gathering that management is hoping jack johnson, Moore, and Wisniewski as 3 of our top 4 d-men and that Brassard and Johanssen develop into 2 of our top forwards along with whoever Nash eventually gets swapped for plus maybe Yakupov ( if we win the draft lottery for 1st overall. )
I'm hoping the core is JJ, Johansen, Moore, Dorsett, Savard,Atkinson, #1 pick(s)
But other than JJ the rest is a lot of hope

I should have had Moore in my list. Really liking this kid and I was lukewarm when he was drafted.
Based on their contracts and play, I'd say these 5 guys will be here for 3+ more seasons.
RJ
Methot
Tyutin
Wiz
JJ
They all have good contracts for them, in terms of pay and tenure, and play well enough to not be dumped in a package trade. I would include Nash, but well...

Interesting point. This is probably true. Love the new name btw.

Considering he has never shown this type of play, Im not sure you can say that.
Brassard, Moore, Savard, RJO, Jenner, Yakupov, Tynan, Atkinson, Kubalik..... Youth movement, for rebuilding... I would love to add Kreider, J.T. Miller and NY's 1st.
I'll go with JJ, Moore/Savard*, Wiz, Johan, Atkinson, Dorsett, and soon to include Calvert, Yakupov/Galchenyk, Tynan, maybe Jenner
*I think if we continue and do a deal with NYR for Nash that includes the NYR 1st, we attempt to package LAs 1st, NYR 1st, and one of Moore/Savard (maybe more) to get back up in top ten for one of Galchenyk, Demba, Murray, other ready to play top prospect

From what I've seen from Dumba, I really like the kid's edge and skating ability...
this is why i think were so bad, our core is atrocious compared to everyone else.. too many supporting pieces. another reason why im ok with trading nash is to help build a core with young players
