All you need to change is the SYSTEM.

THE LEafs could trap their way to the playoffs if Burke would let the coaches do it.

do you actually believe that?

who's our top shutdown C ? Bozak/Connolly/Steckel ???

that does not cut it .. they have Hanzal, the best shutdown C in the LEAGUE

to boot, ALL of their forwards are solid defensively... and they have a top goalie

Their goalie was waived twice last year and was playing in the AHL.
Bryzgalov had elite numbers last year and was "lost in the woods" and "scared of the bear" on a much more talented team in Philly.

YOu thin the system has nothing to do with it?

YOU don't think Hanzal was COACHED to become that way?

All their forwards are responsible defensively because that is the system they are taught.

Washington has learned teh system. Kovalchuk learned to do it in NJ. IFf he can anyone can. Hell even in Toronto Kessel is much better defensively than he was 2 years ago. I actually saw him below the top of the circles a few times this year.

BUrke want's entertaining hockey. Ergo NO trap. PLayers will play what they are taught to play. Teach them the trap and you will see it.

Sure...any hack can play a Mozart piece or Beethoven on the piano but can he play it well? Phoenix plays their defensive system well which is why they are still playing. Its not as easy as you say it is. If it were ever team would do it. Teams have won with the run 'n gun offense too.....didn't quite work out for Ronnie and the Leafs did it?

Definitely not. Phoenix is gonna have to start re-tool or rebuild very soon. They are looking good in the playoffs but i just can't see this team winning the cup. They have a pretty strong team but i don't think they have a single player who can push the team to the next level, nor do they have the assets needed to get such a player. I feel like our players are much younger and much more promising. And im also excited to see some of our prospects in a few years.

If you want short term success (making the playoffs) then yes swap rosters. But if you wanna build a real contender i stick with this team.

PHX plays their systems well. We play like chickens without their heads.

i vote yes because we have a lot of dead weight, long contracts and coyotes got cap flexibility.
