Lidstrom to miss atleast the next two games

Quote:
"Doctors said he's out for the weekend,'' general manager Ken Holland said. "He'll be re-evaluated on Monday.''

Is this it? Lidstrom getting sick and injured all of a sudden, I think he will retire after this season, he's feeling it.

Alright I will say it while people run around praying for Lidstrom to return and he is one of my favorite players ever, first Wings jersey I ever got was his during his rookie season when I was a kid. But I hope he retires, because to me that means we won it all. I don't think bruises and the flu is his deciding factor. He seems to still enjoy the game so much and looked so intrigued by the New Years day game and I expect the Wings to be very active this off-season, actually bringing a better team next year.

I really doubt this will impact his decision beyond this season.

Sucks for the moment though

Damn. That means I won't get to see him or Dats when I'm at the Joe on Sunday.

Luckily our defense didn't look awful with him out last game. Granted, it was the Blue Jackets, but I think that the biggest loss when Lidstrom is out is that confidence that he instills in everyone, even more than his stellar play.

We don't need someone who can fill his shoes, we just need our defense to be good enough while he gets better.

Rest well. That leg needs to be strong to lift that cup in June.

I'm assuming that your joking but the funny thing is if the Wings do lose with Quincey in the line up som posters are going to run with this.

partly joking

but look what happened next season after he was waived.

colorado has won 4 consecutive games since he was traded.

'09 LAK (with quincey): missed playoffs

LAK since dumping quincey: have not missed playoffs

quincey = antichrist?

Our defense looked good last game, even though it was the Blue Jackets, it still brings confidence into the group that we lack when Datsyuk and Lidstrom aren't in the lineup. Let Lidstrom rest some more, there's no need to rush his recovery, and plus he deserves the time off.

Does anyone have an update on Datsyuk and a time table on when he's going to return to the lineup?

He'll be back mid-March it seems. They want him at 100%.

Well if Q is back then Janik will be sent down. Will make things very interesting, especially defensively.

Exactly.

Let the stars rest up now, and see what the kids like Kindl and Smith and Mursak and what all can do with more responsibility in the meantime. Not an ideal situation for the present, but it is what it is.

Colorado made the playoffs with Quincey in 2010, so that means your argument holds no water.

Maybe we should take the killbuttman approach and trade him while he still has value

And if Quincey were the antichrist, surely he'd use his awe-inspiring powers to win everything.

Yeah, and it should be said that the season directly after he was waived, we lost Game 7.

Perhaps if we had kept him, things might have turned out differently, eh?

You laugh, but, we'll never know for sure now will we?

After all, if he really was the antichrist, wouldn't it stand to reason that losing Game 7 was just Quincey's way of getting back at us for letting him go? Makes sense, right?

Darren McCarty wasn't on the '09 team either.
