Agreed on Crawford. It'll be interesting what they do with Carreno too. He was great as a late-inning reliever for the Jays and I could see him as closer material, but at every minor league level he's played so far he's been a starter.

I'd also think they would trade Francisco too to keep whichever of Snider/Thames doesn't get the starting spot. Snider's defence is decent, and he can't be that much worse than Francisco would be offensively even if he struggles (I don't have the #s in front of me) and I would have to think that Thames' bat makes him more valuable as a pinch hitter than Francisco would be. Plus Davis could handle the OF sub duties if they don't want to put Thames in. Not an ideal solution, but seemingly a workable one.

Unless someone comes to AA and makes a very solid offer for either of Snider/Thames, I don't think he would sell low on either of them.

Wouldnt the club want both Snider and Thames to have regular at bats though? Having them both up here wouldnt do that.

While I'm not sure a platoon of Thames/Snider is the best scenario for either player, I've been saying Francisco should be traded for a while now. He's an OK bat, with sub-par defense.

The problem is he was JUST signed. It could hurt our rep trading a player before he even hits the field (or bench) during a regular season game. It's a philosophy that I strongly believe. Give him 40-50 at-bats, to see what he can do. After that, do what you will AA. Maybe package him up with a guy like Oliver.

Do you guys know what's the best place to get a baseball glove? Looking for pretty good quality at a reasonable price.

We didn't sign him, we traded for him, and there's certainly players we've moved right after acquiring them in trades.

I think National Sports has a spring sale right now. I'm pretty sure they still carry Mizuno and they should also have a glove steamer.

TSN says the Jays traded a pitcher named Frank Gailey to the Phillies for him.

How much does pre season matter in the MLB? Seems like it means just as little as it does in the NHL.

ST means pretty much nothing vs the regular season, which leaves me still skeptical that snider is finally MLB ready. i hope i'm wrong though. and another good effort from the jays pitching staff regardless of the talent they faced.

Pretty good considering that you play so many guys in each game.

San Francisco has won the Cactus league the last two years and won the title in 2010 and who knows what could have happened last year if Posey was not hurt. Angels won the year before and won their division with 97 wins. The Cactus league appears to be a good indicator at least.

Teams with .600+% in ST

+ = .700+%
* = playoffs

2011: Kansas City, Minnesota, San Francisco, Colorado, Milwaukee*, Philadelphia*
2010: Tampa Bay+*, Cleveland, Detroit, San Francisco*, San Diego, Chicago N
2009: Los Angeles A+*, New York A+*, Texas, Milwaukee, Atlanta, St Louis*
2008: Oakland, Tampa Bay*, Los Angeles A*, Texas, New York N, Miami, St. Louis, Milwaukee*
2007: Detroit, Arizona*, St. Louis, Atlanta, Cincinnati
2006: Kansas City, Cleveland, Los Angeles A, Miami, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, San Diego
2005: Los Angeles A*, San Francisco, Toronto, New York N, St. Louis*
2004: Seattle, Milwaukee, Minnesota*, Montreal, Boston*
2003: Kansas City+, Chicago*, Cleveland, Montreal

In conclusion, 16/52 teams (31%) of teams with a spring record over .600% make the playoffs, which shows minimal correlation since 27% of teams made it during the span. Of the albeit small sample size of teams with a .700%+ record, 75% make the playoffs.

I got a bone to pick with the lack of respect Ricky Romero gets from experts. Take a look at the Yahoo fantasy rankings for SPs:

http://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy/mlb/...2preseason1-sp

They got Romero 30th. Behind guys like: Pineda, Zimmerman, Beachy, Hanson, Hudson, Latos, Garza, Gio, Yu Darvish (who has yet to prove anything in the bigs).

IMO he should be right behind Cain on that list, toss up with Strasburg for #14.

Thoughts?

This is fantasy baseball.

Although Ricky is a great pitcher, he doesn't have great fantasy value because he's not a strikeout pitcher and he didn't rack up a lot of wins last year (although I hope that will change this year).

That list isn't about the best pitchers in baseball, but rather the best fantasy pitchers in baseball.

Those are all some VERY good pitchers. No shame in being ranked behind them at all. Some projections have him with like a 3.9 ERA so that one is relatively favourable.

Have you seen the ERA and win totals of the pitchers ahead of him? Its a joke that they all improve but Ricky is supposed to regress. Why is it that he's improved his ERA in every season and was under 3.00 last season, but people expect him to take a step back.

Ricky Romero was pretty lucky last year, I think his FIP will get better but ERA will raise quite a bit. So he will improve but most won't notice it.
