He definitely wouldn't hurt the States though if they do end up needing him. His skill set does fit well for international ice, he's a lot faster than people give him credit for, which is going to be crucial for any teams defence.

I got no real problems with Butler, just wayyy too much talent out there still for him to make this squad..

I really hope we have a succesful tournament.

Also, I feel like the same 7-8 posters post in this thread every year, we deserve to see the States go on a deep run in the tourny

Stastny, Goligoski, and Gerbe are all playing per Kevin Allen.

Gerbe (6-19-25) =============== Center ======== Atkinson (5-6-11)

Last year's forwards

Awesome. I was starting to worry that we'd seen the last positive news. I haven't been this excited for the worlds in years.

Me either. This is shaping up to be the best team since 2008 (which was a medal contender IMO).

I guess the only question is: Is Yan far behind?

with that announcement, I guess Wheeler, Stafford, and Pominville will not play....we have a lot of wingers already, pretty much no room for all of them since they announced Atkinson, Thompson, and Dwyer

very excited that Goligoski and Stastny are coming on board. those are two huge additions for us, and our defense is going to be very mobile.

Thompson is a center.

Taking all three would be tough at this point but I doubt all three would want to go anyway. You'd like to keep at least 1-2 F positions open for any players eliminated in the playoffs. I'm not real worried about Stafford but I hope one of Pominville/Wheeler wants to join.

agree, but we still have a huge hole to fill....the most important one....the goalie

I like Bachman as a #3, but if he is our #1, we can be in deep crap. I would be shocked if Montoya doesnt come on board, but even then I hope he is our #2 with gettig a Quick or Howard/Anderson after a first round loss...

I know Thompson is a center, I just feel naming him so early limited our options...

Not really. At the very least you could have him anchor the 4th line (which would be ideal).

the longer Byfuglien takes to make his decision, the better...as long as we continue to bring in some highend skill, I think Big Buff will come on board to get his name in good graces with USA Hockey.

there is a lot better 4th line options then him..imo

he is a tough kid that has worked hard to stay in the league, but if he isnt our 4th line center...which he currently is listed as our #2 depth chart wise, we are going to be in trouble.

and at what point should we just add Yan Stastny to this team? it seems inevitable with Paul on board..

didnt Nick Bonino accept an invite?? he would likely fill in the 3rd center role...or ahead of Thompson I guess

I agree that if he is anything more than a 4th liner it doesn't look good. That said-I believe that will be his role and good for him. He's worked hard to be a contributor at the NHL level.

Forwards are shaping up. What I would so (as is):

Atkinson-Stastny-Pacioretty
Gerbe-Bonino-Ryan
Okposo-
Dwyer-Thompson

Scott Gordon officially announced as head coach and Greg Cronin as an assistant. Another assistant TBD.

Doesn't inspire a ton of confidence after last year, but hopefully he can make amends.

Article by Kevin Allen confirming latest additions: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/hocke...ips/54148920/1

Sounds like they're hopeful of adding a goalie after NHL first round. Also, probably means not much interest in Montoya. I'd rather add the veteran in Boucher and hold out for a legit #1 anyway.

Hello from Slovakia. I believe that your team will win this year's World Cup in hockey. Need two more good wing and centers, and will really force, I believe it will be Drew Stafford, Jason Pominville and then do not worry.

Max Pacioretty - Paul Stastny - Jason Pominville/
Kyle Okposo - Nick Bonino - Bobby Ryan
Drew Stafford - ? -Nathan Gerbe
Patrick Dwyer - Nate Thompson - Cam Atkinson

I Love USA and I keep my fingers crossed that you've won....
