Well atleast if there was any lingering effects from PCS hopefully they will dissipate during the 8 weeks he has off.
I also love how the Rangers block shots all the time, and the one time JVR does it he is out , most likely for the rest of the season. The rangers are a good team this year, but they have had an insane amount of luck when it comes to injuries.
I has been a tough year for JVR, heck I have been down on him like a lot of people. But seriously, can he have any worse luck this season? I mean, he sacrifices his body for the good of the team by laying out to block a shot and he gets rewarded with a broken foot and 6-8 weeks on the shelf...
Eskin isn't a reporter he's an old, ugly dick in a fur coat and he hates hockey
He hates hockey, the Flyers, the Sixers and really hates the Phillies. He is in bed with the fat man so you know he loves the eagles. eskin is in one word a "punk".
He doesnt hate hockey, and for a man who rarely covers the sport he has incredible access to information.
Not only did he know about carter richards stuff but he knew holmgren was going to become GM, he knew that Roenick was going to be a flyer and he knew that Lindros would never wear a flyer uniform again after 2000.
Just because wip or whatever it is now doesnt cover hockey doesnt mean that he hates hockey. these reporters usually dont care about sports or the teams or the players, they are just reporting on what is popular and what will lead to the selling of more newspapers or more listeners on the radio.

actually, JVR did block that shot in a dumb way. he went down putting his head to the inside...you should never do that. however, if he would have actually blocked the shot properly, he may have taken it in the face.....

Yikes..JVR is already "challenged" looks wise......
You are right though he did try to block that awkwardly but hey at least he showed some desperation...sadly even players like Lappy who was a specialist at blocking shots make costly gaffes.
Interesting comments by Bill today about JVR. He does get too much of a bad rap. Just one of those years for him.
Quote:
Last night, James van Riemsdyk suffered a broken foot when blocking a shot in the first period. He is out indefinitely but figures at minimum to miss the rest of the regular season. The club is likely to recall either Eric Wellwood or Harry Zolnierczyk.
The 2011-12 season has been a forgettable one for van Riemsdyk. He started out fine, and was on a 30-goal pace in November. But then the injury bug started biting him repeatedly: torn abdominal muscle, sprained knee, concussion. According to some reports (denied by the team), he has been dealing for months with a hip impingement issue that may require post-season surgery.
That is why I find it amazing that so many people are down on JVR. When he tried to play through injuries and not whine or use them as an excuse, he got criticized because he wasn't as effective. When he and the team followed concussion protocols and he sat out of games until he was fully symtom-free, some fans claimed he was malingering to avoid getting traded (which is a preposterous accusation and, quite frankly, a bit offensive).
On the play where van Riemsdyk broke his foot last night, he still gritted out the shift long enough to clear the puck from his knees before he limped off to the locker room. But, hey, he's just soft and lazy, right?
There is no doubt that van Riemsdyk needs to more consistently use his size and strength rather than being content to be a perimeter player. He took strides in that direction after a rough start last season, and was dominant in the playoffs. JVR appeared to making further progress -- not huge, but another small step ahead -- early this season.
I am willing to chalk up the primary reason for his problems since then to the series of injuries he has suffered. JVR will now have to redeem his season where it really counts: the playoffs. By the way, the same thing goes for Danny Briere.

Too much rational thought in those comments for this board/fan base
I want him to prove he's ready for a top 9 role so there's no need re-sign Jagr.
I don't see any possible universe in which Eric Wellwood would make Jaromir Jagr expendable.
Wellwood's upside is speedy checker with not much offensive ability. He'll be on the 4th line if he comes up now, and I don't see him ever in the top 9.
They should move Talbot up to replace JVR, then do auditions to see what we've got in the AHL. We have an idea of what Harry Z and Wellwood can do, I'd like to see some or all of Holmstrom, Testwuide, Akeson and Harper given a couple games each to play 4RW with Couts and Zac.
Given Sestito's surgery, I'd like to see if Testwuide or Holmstrom could provide some size on the fourth line.

You seem to have misunderstood me. Wellwood is not going to even dream of putting up Jagr-esque numbers. He cannot replace him offensively, but that's not what I said.
Jagr is already pretty much expendable next year. Wellwood's emergence on the wing adds to that.
