Watch Foster hooking a diving Pacioretty last night if you want to feel better about that trade. My very early opinion on Zid so far is that he's a skilled defenseman who takes lots of risks. He's slick but dangerous and should be paired with your absolute best skating, recovery defensive defenseman.

Haha weren't you arguing earlier in the year about how to say Henrique's name?

Cango is pronouncing it right, as it's the same pronunciation Doc was using the other day. Don't worry, I was corrected also because it sounds like they're both saying wrong as to how it looks on his jersey.

To each his own I guess.

It doesn't help that, despite having Steve right next to him, Chico has no shame about blatantly mispronouncing his name.

haha yes, it's like 10000 spoons...

There was a debate because his father's Portuguese and Adam isn't French (at all). My position was that his name is pronounced however Adam Henrique wants his name pronounced. Just like Josefson. He says it's a harsh J then it is what it is even though it's a Y sound back home.

Chico is in his own little world, I forget who it was, but he was calling someone the completely wrong name throughout the whole game earlier in the season, only to realize 2/3s of the way through the game that he was talking about one of his old Colorado Rockie teammates who had the same last name.

Dammit I wish I remembered who it was.

In Czech the "c" sounds like "ts" like in the word **** or hits. Steve is pronouncing it correctly.

I guess I just don't understand what other posters are seeing to be this disappointed in Zidlicky. I've watched all three games so far and was pleasantly surprised by his defensive game. Based on what Wild posters were saying, I expected a Foster 2.0.

He's made some solid plays in both ends of the rink and at the end of the day our defense is better with him than with Foster.

Pete Deboer pronounced Zidlicky the way it looks the other day in his interview during practice.

He also pronounced Tallinder's name TA-LLINDER for the longest time. A lot of announcers do. More recently I've heard him pronounce it TALL-INDER like Steve, and Chico say it.

I'm OK with the way Zidlicky is playing, I still have a lot of hope.

He's not necessarily a cookie-cutter, stay at home defenseman. He's a finesse guy, give him time to get into the flow of things. He needs to catch the rhythm of the team and the powerplay.

And even though there hasn't been success; he is helping the powerplay move the puck well. It adds some creativity, as opposed to the straight lines Foster drew.

With the exception of Tampa (first game), he's gone against Boston and NYR - very solid penalty kills. If they get some PPs tonight, hopefully he can get a groove going since Washington isn't fantastic on the PK.

Like I said, he's not a stay at home type, Colin White (defend, get the puck out). We hired him for his skating/creativity/finesse from the back end.

I would also like to note, that pretty much every time we acquire a Dman at the deadline, they tend to suck. He's no different in that respect. It takes time to get used to the new system. Hopefully he finds his role a little bit quicker.

Call me crazy, I welcome his smooth skating back on the blue line. I truly think he'll get there. He won't ever be a savior, but I do think he'll cement himself as a much better upgrade over Foster - and I do believe we're better with him, than before we traded for him. That was the point, right?

Edit: Actually, the full translate.google.com TTS does a better job, but I don't believe you can link a specific expression from it. Don't try Henrique using the above, for example

Yeah I do but it's the American version. When my Grandfather came over he gave his name and they just basterdised the spelling and wrote down what they heard phonetically.

Zidlicky has been fine. He'll adjust to the team, give him some time.

Chara wasn't even Zidlicky's man to begin with. In 4-on-4 the forwards cover the defensemen and the defensemen cover the forwards.

Chara was Zubrus's man, but Zubes made a mistake when he went to go pick his stick up. That gave Chara time and space to try to stuff the puck in short side. And when a 6'9'' man is trying to out-muscle your goaltender, you drop your **** and get in there which is exactly what Zids did.

Unfortunately Krejci was the one supposed to be covered by Zids, but the only reason that happened was because Zids was trying to cover for the awful mistake Zubrus made. Once Zubrus got his stick he should have recognized his man was covered and made a B-line to Krejci, which he didn't.

Marty gave up a short-side wrap-around goal in the exact same way to the Rangers, if Zids had stayed in coverage on Krejci then Chara would have walked in and scored a goal identical to the one Hagelin did.

I'm not blaming Zubrus for losing his stick, that can happen to anyone, but he made a poor decision to go get his stick and an even poorer effort to get back into the play and ended up leaving his defensemen out to dry. Zids was pretty much in a lose-lose situation since Zubrus made him responsible for two guys in prime scoring position.

The irony is that the game winning goal was a combination of stupid goaltending plus bad luck. Zubrus drps his stick which turns the game into a 4v3 for a split second. Teams like the Bruins capitalize on that.

I hardly blame Zidlicky for the loss, but he has not made a good first impression.

There is one major thing this team is missing...and I believe it is poise. When the pressure is on, the team tends to buckle (especially on defense). It's more mental than anything else, and it's not something that can be changed with any additions to the lineup (such as a #1 defenseman everybody wants). It's something that they have to develop. Hopefully we see that improve as we move towards the playoffs; if not, it will be difficult to do any damage once the postseason begins. Right now they just have to focus on working hard and getting points.

I don't blame Marty for the OT goal. Of course he didn't have to try to make a highlight reel save, but even if he made it simple, and got it they probably would have scored 5 second later. Even if he covered up I could see Boston scoring on a faceoff.

Fact is this team CAN'T CLEAR THE ZONE! This is a problem the coaching needs to address immediately. It can't keep going on like this. It can't. This is WHY we have so many shootout wins, and have to hope that doesn't screw us.

Zidlicky, Kovalchuk, Zubrus, Fayne none of those guys could clear the zone! Second goal of the night for Boston same thing. Kovalchuk, Parise, and Henrique couldn't clear!

Tying goal same group of guys. Andy Greene was on for both of those also. I think Fayne might have been on for one, and Volchenkov the other. I can't remember.

You expect this from Boulton, or Bernier, or Janssen, or Josefson, not from the top 2 lines!

I don't know what Marty could have really done. He couldn't leave his crease, and try to clear it himself. Not with the dangerous Boston guys he had in front of him.

It was like that in Vancouver. They couldn't clear, so Marty had to come way out of the crease remember that?
