See AROUND THE RINK (Braves Blog site) for greater details I am sure.
Clearly the Ottawa Jr. Sens are surging and at the right itme. It appears that the Sens have very solid goal tending and the Cornwall Colts could have their hands full. It could be a very low scoring series.

The Hawks will also be a major challenge for CPC.

It is getting all very exciting and we look forward to some great hockey.

It is very unfortunate and sad about Kanata.

2 games of note. Cp vs SF and Nep vs Kanata. The race for eighth place will have Bears and Stallions playing frantic hockey. SF possible upset?

Hawks vs PLK

It appears that the Hawks had a very good game tonight against the Lumber Kings in Pembroke. The visiting Hawks won 3 to 2.

It was a comeback win with 3 unanswered goals including a shorthanded goal in the third period to win the game.

Upon examination of video, Mr. Dupius of the Kings appeared to be more average tonight than MVP.

Yep...Dupuis looked human tonight.....everyone has an off game. Kudos to Hawkesbury....they were down early, didn't look composed in the first, but managed to turn it around and control the play for the second half of the game.

Of course it didn't help that Milley was back last night and was nothing more than a pylon who looked like a goon. I try to make it a point not to personally slag any of the junior players on this board because they are kids who are just playing the game they love....but seriously...how did he get a full ride to Penn State? He is one of the laziest players I have ever seen.

Congrats Hawks!

Congrats to the Hawks organization on clinching 5th place. That is a 7 spot improvement from the last 3 seasons, with only 5 players carried over from last year.

Does anyone know if this has ever been done in the CJHL/CCHL?

I'm not saying PG, JC didn't do a great job this year but Henderson and Anderson did one hell of a rebuild and deserve recognition. Can't wait for the Playoffs!

At some point we need to stop calling these players "kids". Anybody 18 and older is legally an adult. Milley's going to be 21 in May.

Kanata falls short. Smith Falls will go out 4 straight to Nepean. CP need to get house in order. But CP has easier schedule than Brockville. Pembroke and Hawks will give these two a challenge. Cornwall and Ottawa could be good series if Ottawa continues it's winning ways, but still a tall order against Colts. Long summer for bottom 4.

In 2006/7 Cumberland was last overall with 29 points, next season won their division with 74 points and 4th overall.

In 2007/8 Ottawa was last overall with 29 points, next season 6th overall with 67 points

In 2008/9 Kemptville 2nd last overall with 37 points, next season jumped to 60 points

So big improvements are not all that uncommon....

Yes Milley is a very lazy player, however he is a big game player and he plays well when it counts. Not to mention it was his first game back in a while

I hope that all who respect SK ( and I know there are many on this forum who do) have noticed his comments concerning the Spink twins. He has called them the most dynamic forwards in the league. I have been expressing this opinion for sometime now. They are the best skating, best puck handling forwards in the Central League. But They have missed too many games to be MVP. I will stay with Francis Dupius for that award. The boys are the kind of players people pay to see on the ice. Love them or hate them they are exciting.

Yes I agree with the age factor. We must remember they are young adults, key word "young" and for their hockey, well still kids in comparison to where they want to go. And Milley, one game in 5 months and he’s a slug. Not fair is it.

Why are you still bringing up stuff about the Spinks to defend them? We've said time and time again that they're great players you love to hate. Nothing more to say. We'll see what happens come playoff time. Hawks are going to physically destroy whoever they play first round, Cornwall and Nepean have to be very happy to have 1 and 2 so they don't have to play the Hawks or PLK.

Gotta agree with you Snorlax, don't remember anyone bashing the Spinks on their skill set...They are both great talents, skill wise, but are both dirty and somewhat whiney little sob's...which is great if they play for your team, not so great if they play against you...

Also can't argue with your assessment for Nepean and Cornwall, although I think Cornwall will have the easiest 1st round series of all the teams....They are just to powerful for the OJS to match and goaltending will be an issue with OJS in a long series...I see Cornwall in 5.

I think Nepean should be wary of Smiths Falls< they are a very physical team and their first line can be potent, sadly the rest of the forwards are not up to prime time just yet and I am not a huge fan of their D outside Akeson....Nepean should take it in 5 maybe 6 but it won't be as easy as most think....

I think CP and Brockville will do their best to avoid Pembroke but you are right with Hawksbury...whoever gets them will be in for a dogfight...I think CP outlast them in 6 or 7 and if it's Brockville the Hawks might just pull of the upset....Goaltending in either series will be huge and CP's is in a freefall right now, so who knows...

PLK is going to get 2 games stolen by Dupuis and will take wither CP or the Braves to 7 I think...Toss up in my opinion either way....Should be a great 1st round!

Any opinions on Kanata and their representation of the CCHL in the Fred Page Cup?? They are all but eliminated from the playoffs and I think it would be an embarrassment to the league to have them in it...Just my opinion, but I gotta believe I can speak for a few other people as well!

If you think that slashing every play, and then whining to the refs every whistle about every little thing puts them as the 2 best players? yes there good at hockey but they are also very dirty and whine to much!.

Johnston? Norris?
Weegar going to the Q?

Plus, if you think all these committments listed on the CCHL site are "full rides" you are dreaming...

Those scholarships were last year...Weegar this year...

Shocked that PG has not been able to sew up Neil and Cowie....

But with winning usually comes scholarships...look at Pembroke...

So for Nepean players sake hopefully they win....

Cowie is a very good player who makes others around him better but his lack of foot speed is probably scaring off the NCAA

For Neill he greatly benefits from playing with Cowie and MaClean, he may have to prove he can do on his own, many games you really do not notice him until you look at the scoresheet and he has 2 or 3 points.

My playoff perdictions.....
Round 1
Bears vs Raiders....Raiders...in 5
Braves vs Kings......Pembroke in 7
Hawks vs CP..........CP in 6
Ottawa vs Colts......Cornwall 6

Round 2

Pembroke vs Colts.....Cornwall in 6
Nepean or cp will be 7 games...depends on what type of goaltending cp gets...

I think each team has an "Education/Scholarship" admin guy. I don't see it as PG's or any other coach's responsibility to chase down a scholly for these guys.
