I'm looking forward to see Eller in the Danish jersey again. Lars will be the teams number 1 centerman and get good experience yet again!

For Canada I believe Price, Subban and Desharnais will get invited and all of them should go.

USA - Cole, Pacio.

Suisse - Diaz, Weber.

Russia - Emelin.

It wasn't him! It was Eberle and Skinner making space for him.

With the amount of defenseman who turned down invites last year and the defense they went with, I see no way Gorges doesn't get an invite.

Price has to go if Canada asks and I think he would, same for Subban. If you want in on the Olympics you have to go to these tourneys when Canada asks, they play politics that way. I doubt they would ask Desharnais although they should as he would be good on European ice.
From what I can see, there isn't a lot of options at Center right now for Canada. Last year, Vermette was one of the teams centers -- and Desharnais surely would get the invite over him this year.

If he hits 65-points, I'm 99% sure he'll get invited. And you know he'd be accepting immediately.

I think you missunderstood him

Subban, DD, Patches, Eller, Cole (definitely could see him turning it down), Price, Emelin, Markov, Plekanec, Diaz, Weber, Kaberle, maybe Gorges.....

....should be a fun WC no matter which way you slice it there should be tons of Habs there

He said that Desharnais' success is not just because of Patches and Cole. I was agreeing with him by saying that the non-believers would just find something else to focus on so he didn't get any praise.

The world championship is a ****ing joke and canadians know it that's why so many of them skip it. Europeans on the other hand can't wait to get into it because they know we don't take it seriously and it gives them a legitimate chance to win.

its an european tournament
most of them happens in europe (slovakia, germany, Finland...)

this is the rank. If canada didnt take it seriously, why are they rank that high?

Because of the overwhelming number of good Canadian players.

No chance Price plays. I can't see him accepting the invite.

That would be a pity, it would be interesting to see how he would do on another team, it`s the only possibility without trading him.

Engqvist is, at best, a player that is unlikely to get an invite. Sweden would rather use their invites on KHL and Elitserien stars before they do Engqvist.

Hockey Canada knows that the WC is a tournament that matters with respect to Olympic qualification. The 2011 showing is likely the result of a weak defense. Phaneuf-Schenn was their top line... if Phaneuf and Schenn both play again, I could see Gorges on the second line.

Looks like each and every Hab that matters will at least get invites, and (hopefully!) play.

Playing 70+ games a year and the Worlds would give Price an idea of what to expect should the Habs ever go to the SCF with Price as a starter.

He's already won a Bronze medal at the World Championships with Sweden in 2010. Scored 4-points in 9-games.

What is he gonna say? That he can't wait to play in the WC? Russians love to represent their country, I bet if he gets the call he thinks about it long and hard.

I really hope Price & Subban go. They both turned down the invite last year, although I didn't blame them for that. There is a lot of lead time now between the end of the season & the start of the WC. They'll be able to rest before the tourney begins. Both could use that experience.

It would be nice if Gorges & DD got invites too.

In fact, anyone who does get an invite should go, with the possible exception of Cole. I'm positive Patches will accept for the U.S.

Is there a reason as to why Cole would reject an invite? Is it because of a falling out with Burke?

A lot of older players turn down World Championships - usually only go for the Olympics.

Price I think will be the only one for Canada, IMO.

Too deep on D and at F for Subban and Desharnais.
