Definitely, as does the supposed 9 people who Vilma has affidavits of, which we also didn't know until now, but Goodell has shown an unwillingness to have to go that far because he doesn't want to reveal the sources, which means they'll probably throw it out in court.

Albert Breer also said that Mike Cerullo (former assistant, whistleblower), signed one that contradicts info in Williams', but that he hasn't been a credible source. Even the NFL's own media are claiming that this is sketchy.

This whole process has been extremely sketchy, and I say that as Panther fan. No idea why they moved forward without having everything in order. Williams' statement should have been on the record long ago.

Goodell reissues penalties

Vilma remains a yr
Hargrove drops from 8 to 7 games
Smith stays at 4
Fujita drops from 3 to 1 game

Good. They shouldn't have been reversed in the first place.

Wonder how long it'll take Vilma to start crying on twitter again. Has to be coming soon.

Hargrove is also getting credit for his suspension as he remains unsigned. Decent chance he's done in the league anyways, but I'm sure he'll still get workouts.

Vilma is also allowed to still be paid while he's on the PUP list.

The only reason the suspensions were overturned were because Goodell tried to nail them for salary cap violations

So what happens now? Is Vilma eligible to come back at the start of the 2013 season, or does the clock restart and he can't come back until Week 6 of 2013?

For someone who does a lot of talking/whining he sure can't handle any criticism. He blocked me after 1 tweet saying something similar to what you posted.

I'd imagine he'd be eligible to play Week 1 2013. Isn't the reason he's on the PUP list because he wasn't in game shape?

http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/b...south&id=40135

Also found that this morning. Don't think they "targeted" Sutton (and neither does he) but I do find it a bit curious that this is the 3rd Panther game where they tried to take out players. Looks like their program wasn't even about taking out the best, rather just taking out players period.

I didn't see everything about this, supposedly Jimmy Kennedy is the Vikings player who is identified as giving the NFL information about the bounty program. But he's going off on Twitter about how he never so much as spoke to anyone at the NFL

Vilma is sensitive and gets very defensive when any fan or member of the media says anything about the bounty program. He has gotten into it with a couple of people from the media when they said something on twitter.

As for the Panthers, this is the first time I've seen players other than Cam mentioned but it's not too surprising. They haven't done anything too dirty like going after the knees or head but every time the two teams play it seems like someone from the Saints is going after Steve Smith. Smith talks a lot of smack so I would expect the defensive players to be more physical with him but the other teams usually keep it between the whistles. They don't go after him after the play is already over.

Interesting. When the news about the bounty system first came out, there was a report that Kennedy was the one who first told Childress what the Saints were doing.

Hopefully for the Saints fans sake, their team is more concerned with fixing their 1-4 start and less with this mess.

What a joke franchise the Saints are.

Really, there should be an * beside their Super Bowl "win"

Well, they intend to have Vilma back at some point, and Will Smith is playing, so they can't try to completely ignore it. It's a bye this week, so they'll at least know by the next time they play

Do they take the Lombardi Trophy away in this case?

Why? It's not like a bounty program increased the talent like steroids or completely cheated.

I just meant in terms of not letting it distract them too much. They have a tough road ahead to get to a playoff spot as is.

I don't think it does. I think a lot of the blame lies in the secondary along with learning a new defensive scheme. The Giants had trouble the first year they had Spags too.

If Tags is involved there will be another exhaustive investigation to dertermine if the Saints were in regulation socks.

If anything changes, I think Vilma will be suspended for the rest of the season, and into next season, but he'll be allowed to play in pre-season, and it won't be a whole year.
