Why are u guys feeling bad for Lupul? I think since the trade, it has motivated him big time and he mentioned couple of times that he has got an extra gear this summer with his good work ethic which he simply wasn't implying the past years, I think Lupul keeps striving the way he has been and keeps the strong work ethic and motivation up, he will be a very good player as he has been except that I don't think his number's won't really be as high as it's been these 60 games or so.
Anyways, If Carlyle is a very good defense coach and decent to above average at offensive system, I think we will have ourselves a fine coach for playoffs next year, if not this year.
Yes to both. He also holds his players accountable, and always likes matching up lines. If the players buy in, I think Carlyle will give you a team that is always dangerous come playoff time.
Unless they play on the first line, then take can do whatever the hell they want out there with no fear of getting benched.
How was Carlyle's relationship with Getzlaf and Perry?
As far as I know, it was fine. There was never any word that Getzlaf and Perry were unhappy with things in Anaheim. Selanne has repeatedly returned to the Ducks. Niedermayer did the same. Koivu wanted to come to Anaheim, and wanted to stay. And so on...

I got the notion that there was a rift, but not in the "I'll never play for that *******, again" sense.
man what you guys are saying is making me smile so much
it's basically everything i've been begging for
with wilson it was no structure, run and gun style. we were the softest team in the league and our d men were constantly exposed.
RC might be tough but this team needs that, we desperately need structure.
Except we're a team full of apathetic floaters that won't forcheck, save for Kulemin, Steckel, and Brown. This is going to be a disaster of Wilson proportions
A certain Teemu might have had something to do with that... As well having Scott Niedermayer and Chris Pronger on defense.
What does that have to do with Carlyle being fine coaching speedy players? If anything that proves my point, Teemu and McDonald thrived here and neither were good defensively or physical.

No, it has more to do with linemates than Carlyle's coaching.
I'm going to have a hard time being to mean towards the Leafs now, oh well, I can just hate the Canucks EVEN MORE. LOL
Dunno if I want to see Carlyle bring a cup to Toronto... actually, definitely not. But its just sad how mediocre they have been. The Leafs should at least fill the power void of the Canadiens, as the only Eastern Canadian O6 playoff team.
Looking at the standings, the East doesn't look nearly as inferior to the West in according to the numbers... but I still think the West remains the conference with the most physical play, and highly competitive play.

Aw man you should not have said this. Cue the following from Leaf fans - Getzlaf and Perry to Toronto due to great relationships with RC.
From the sounds of it the Leafs are going to be a much better team. The blueline was meant to be gritty in your face and defensively sound. WIlson didn't play that style he wanted smart positional hockey that didn't take penalties Having a coach encouraging Komi or Schenn to throw someone into the boards will be nice.
He does. I could see Schenn bouncing back from his troubles under RC.
As for Kadri I have no idea, haven't seen him enough.
Kadri is basically a Mike Ribeiro. Very cocky and shifty, good playmaker but with a swagger. He isn't afraid to go crashing into the boards and lay someone out in that kinda PK Subban swagger kind of way.
Carlyle had plenty of success with young players, the "he can't coach younger players" is largely a myth borne of HF overhyping prospects. They suck - must be the coach's fault.
I was hoping there would be a thread about this. Lots of insight from Ducks fans so thanks for that.
My main concern about Carlyle's coaching is that he would eliminate the element of speed that the Leafs bring to their game however it's reassuring to hear that Carlyle has coached fast teams before and was able to use that to his advantage. Leafs are tough to beat when they're moving their legs for a full 60 minutes. If he can successfully implement any kind of defensive system, it will be an improvement on the system that team uses right now and theoretically, it should help the goalies out as well.
