Feds can still play . Having no reserves or call ups to occasionally infuse in the line up down the stretch could be problematic .
We have a ton of back to backs and 2 g in 3 nights down the stretch . Not saying healthy scratch Feds every night but giving an older player youmay need in a defensive role in the PO a few nights off here and there seems pretty logical to me . I mean do we have any one in CT who can be relied on to come into an NHL game and play a 3-4 line role . I'm not talking scoring necessarily but just not pull a Newbury .
11 m in cap space and we made no real depth moves for the PO . With the way the NYR block shots we have not much of a plan b as far as reserve forwards .
Hey I'm happy we got a point tonight but perhaps in some of these back to backs having some fresh legs to be cannon fodder in blocking shots down the stretch keeps us peaking for the PO . The whole great season we've had is for naught if we limp into the PO hurt , banged up and with no extra forwards .
"I used to pray for good things . I used to ask the Hockey Gods for puck luck for the NYR .
Now all I want is Torts the smug stupid goatee clown to be fired , . I hate Torts . Please hockey gods make him get fired. Please Sean punch him in face" -- Dorado
Fedetenko looks very slow. Maybe he was exhausted at the time, but, it was his inability to close the gap on Lee that allowed Lee to find Stamkos for the goal that made it 3-2. BTW, what the hell was Hagelin doing on Malone's goal? He seemed lost. Anyway, good for Dubi. He can be such an X-factor for this team going forward. Nice to finally see the Dubi/Richards/Gaborik combination, which Torts NEVER allowed to find any chemistry to start the year. When Cally comes back, it'd be nice to see him move next to AA and Step, with Hagelin pushing Fedetenko down to the 4th line.
Torts played Dubinsky like a flute.
The benching, pre-game comments and then playing him with Gabby and Richie, and finally scoring a goal.
I thought Gaborik, Artie and Richards had pretty good games overall. Dubi had a great second half of the game, and Staal was our best defenseman. Hank was Ok, but looked a little tentative tonight, probably sensing our defensive play was very, very sloppy.
Girardi has slowed down considerably these past few games. His decision making has been very questionnable, probably due to the insane amount of minutes he's played so far. Staal should probably play a few more minutes going forward as it will benefit both (and especially the team).
Also, why play Woywitka (who hasn't played in months) tonight, on the road when you have last change and playing against a very hot top line of Stamkos, MSL & Purcell. Eminger certainly wouldn't have been worse.
Finally, pleasantly surprised with Scott. He plays smart and is sounds positionally, and doesn't look like he'll take dumb penalties. He looked good with Rupp and Dubi tonight. Oh, and Fedotenko should be playing with those two on the fourth line
the only problem ive had with him since he got here was before he even hit the ice when he said one of his goals was to "not get in the way"...yikes
that said, he's been fine.
Do you seriously not get what he was talking about with that statement? That's exactly what I would want a role player to say coming into a team like ours.
I hate going to see my boys and they lose. I do agree they stole a point. They had flashes of energy but then would die. Very inconsistent play throughout. They had no wheels a majority of the game. Happy to see Dubi play excellent, as well as the 4th line.
Hey, gotta lose sometime. Hank kept them in it from the start, but him and the team collapsed that game.
Oh well... Still #1 in the East. Tampa fans can suck on that.
On a cool note, met Glen Sather out in the plaza of the Forum around 12:30pm and then met Joba Chamberlain at Hooters in Channelside an hour or two later before the game. Said he was a Rangers fan and is friends with Prust. Picked up our tab afterwards.
Fedotenko was easily our worst player tonight. Mostly everyone else was bad except Stralman, Richards, and the Stepan line.
