If you read one post above you'd see I was referencing my post earlier. That's why I quoted and bolded only a portion.

God if only people could read on this forum..

Seriously? Some posters are all over the place. You're making my head spin.

It's like having a decent poker hand and you just need one card and luck for a killer hand or maybe two but no lets throw them all in and keep one.

Ovechkin & Backstrom not being elite is a huge issue but so too are the contracts to Laich & Brouwer. Lack of chemistry is a killer and a hallmark of McPhee's teams.

Adding Forsberg could perhaps alleviate some of the concerns up front but McPhee has locked up a lot of mediocrity. Their cap management, roster construction and pro scouting leaves a lot to be desired.
It's OK, getting rid of Beagle, Ward, and Chimera will fix all that.

This player needs to be gritty, not like a Semin who will just snipe from far out. By gritty I mean can score the goals in close.

* Put Marcus Johansson on the third line center. He is a center, not a wing.

* Place Forsberg on the 2nd line when he arrives. This line will be Ribeiro and possibly Laich on the RW.

* Get rid of scrap players including Jason Chimera, Jeff Schultz, Mathieu Perreault

* Get Mike Green going and give him more opportunities to move from the point on the powerplay and pinch

* The defenseman you need to add should be a mid-aged defenseman who is an EXCELLENT pure defenseman.

I'm already in my sixth season of NHL 13 and we've got 4 cups. I moved the trade slider to the left all the way, so we got the #1 pick every year too.

There's only one GM that's hired more coaches in their tenure and that's Lou Lamoriello, a guy with 25 years and three Stanley Cups on his resume. Every other long-tenured GM has established a culture with a consistent presence behind the bench and ****ing stuck with them. McPhee is the only GM that gets to regularly cap coaches while having accomplished so little team success.

Yeah but Stanley Cup winning GMs like Lou are overrated besides he never won any Presidents' Trophies and his ESP/60 is terrible.

Trade dead line this season has been pushed back to April 3rd, due to the lock out. So just about two months remain until the TDL.

The Caps have 10 more games remaining in the month of February. The key strectch will be the last week of February when the Caps play 3 straight games at home, one against the Hurricanes and two against the Devils. Caps lose all three of those games, I believe that McPhee will be gone before March begins.

Look at the February schedule, I see the Caps only eeking out wins against the Leafs on Tuesday and against the Panthers at home next weekend. Other than that, I see the Caps losing every other game this month, with the last game in February being against the Flyers in Philly. Thus good chance the Caps go the remainder of this month 2-8 with grand total of 4-14-1 or 9 points come March 1.

McPhee moved by March 1, new GM still has time to make some moves before the TDL.
(Way the Caps are currently playing, I just don't see Ribeiro seeing any positives in resigning with the Caps, therefore he's a piece to be moved before the TDL).

I have heard of players tanking to get the coach fired. What about tanking to get the GM canned?

That'd be great. I like your scenario. But I haven't heard anything from Ted that indicates he can or will make that GM change. It seems weird but after 15 years maybe McPhee is the de facto dictator of the Caps organization? I always considered him an outsider but after all this time maybe he (McPhee) is the guy that has to decide when he (McPhee) gets fired.

I think Brian Burke would be a good fit for you guys if McPhee and Oates go.

Unlike the Leafs when he took over, the Caps have two(maybe 3 if Green can return to form) superstar-level players and some other guys like Brouwer and Laich that are the type of player he loves.

He'd be able to get you guys back on track.

Jesus, stop with the Burke talk.

He won't win the Caps a Cup, which is the entire point.

Even less than that, does anyone see Ted giving him the autonomy he'd surely require?

I am not so sure about that. He has done it before. If you are basing that off of his body of work in Toronto - two different situations.

Outside of not getting the job, why exactly will Burke not win us a cup?

I am not sure how one can possibly state that as a fact.

Ironically with a core of Ovi Nick Ribs Kuz Fors Green Carlson Alzner and Holtby to build off of, posters such as yourself as GM could probably get the team into the playoffs, right?
