Holy Byfuglien!

17 pts in his last 11 games! .... Eat your heart out, Erik.

Ironically had NO points last night in their 7-0 win.

Turning into quite the offensive D-man, nonetheless.

Don't want to make this into another Karlsson thread, but Erik has 18 points in his last 11.

Just curious as to how many points Buff had in the first half last season? I remember him slowly down dramatically a la Stamkos.

That first reply made me laugh out loud... How offensively is Buf being used this year? Is he being stuck in front of the net on power plays still?

He is certainly on a hot streak. He had a bad start to the season. Will likely end up 2nd in scoring among Dmen.

20 in his last 12 if you include tonight.

Good for Buff, finally getting those wheels in motion.

Ottawa inferiority complex?

As for Buff, he can put up the points but is so erratic doing it.

Seriously, this is a BYFUGLIEN thread.

And to contribute to the thread, I've always been impressed by Byfuglien, ever since he won the Stanley Cup he's been a force to be reckoned with.

OP did make the mistake of mentioning Erik though. That's just asking for it.

They've done that like... once or twice? So no. The coach actually had a really interesting conversation with media awhile back about that, basically that they toyed with the idea of putting him in front of the net more often but decided to keep him at the point.

Well, the point and wherever he feels like going, because he's Buff.

Special kind of player. Don't know when we'll see another Dustin Byfuglien in the league, if ever.

How is his defense this year?

Last season I thought it was pretty terrible, like some of the worst I have seen from a person not called Brett Lebda.

There's a certain irony in a thread about how hot he is being made after an oddly quiet night given the team's success during it.

Thank you!

On topic, the coaches are actually trying to make him play D this season, and he's doing it pretty effectively when he decides to.

It's been slowwwllly improving over the season. Starting in early December maybe he was looking at least tolerably responsible during most games, our D-coach seems to slowly be getting through to him.

Then he was injured for awhile and when he came back, he was back to wandering and catastrophic pinching. But he seems to be settling down a bit again, sometimes a "quiet" game from Buff is a really good sign.

I agree, he is unique. He seems to have a lot of detractors, but I tell you, there's no way I'd trade an asset like that. He can eat all the barbeque he wants, his skill set is unique and he can be a game changer.

its ironic cus you wouldve thought he wouldve got many points in a 7-0 game during such a hot streak, but the opposite happened, he got no points.

i'm glad he's doing it while actually playing defense. he's huge and not slow, so at the very least that should make him decent defensively if he's willing to do it. with a shot and instincts like his, the points will be there regardless.
