Perfect example of a needless, stupid penalty that could have seriously injured someone. I know Perron usually isn't this type of player, but there's no place for that ****.

Not exactly sure why he did that to be honest, I've never seen Perron do anything like that before. Not to worry though, he doesn't come across as a guy who would repeat that kind of thing.

DP isn't a dirty player, but that was stupid. That being said, i'd hardly say it was dangerous. Kassian was at a stand still and Perron was skating leisurely by and did it. It's not like both players were going full speed towards the boards and then Perron did it.

I could see giving him a 1 game suspension just because of how purely stupid and unnecessary it was, but not because Kassian stood any real chance of getting injured by it.

Probably the most exciting part of that game.

I think this one slips under the radar.

Kassian got his wish

So he kicks Kassians skate and than he goes up and hugs someone along the boards so he doesn't have to deal with the consequences. He even looked back to see if Kassian was coming. I'm a big fan of DP57 but that was just a ridiculous play.

Maybe he thought he kicked someone else's skate.

Dumb play, glad Kassian didn't get hurt. Maybe should have been out for the game, but probably no suspension. No real history of this kind of thing for Perron, right? Anyways, big props to Blues fans for calling Perron out not trying to defend the slewfoot. You guys are cool.

Looks like he tried but the linesman intervened. Although I could be wrong because the video is not entirely clear. The camera focuses on Perron without showing how quickly Kassian gets up and skates over. Plus we can't hear what Kassian is saying.

Neat that Stl fans bring this play up. I never thought twice about it while watching the game. Was a dangerous play looking back at it. Hopefully Kassian does not go out of his way to get him back. Kassian has hurt guys before, but in this Nhl where reputation is everything probably best to ignore it. Let Lapierre and Burrows pester him to death in French.

I love Perron but that's just a dumb, dumb play. I don't think it'll happen again.

I don't get the fact that anyone is paying attention to this play at all. It is a big nothing.

But, now that I have looked into it, the interest should begin to rise.

I think this was more a skate-to-skate trip than a slewfoot. I Always thought with a slew foot, you had to use the other player's momentum against him, and use your upper body somehow too.

Two minutes is fair for me.

I love how people have this idea of Kassian being a bad ass, he really isn't. Outside of the bone headed decisions in Junior, he's just a big guy that has a rep from that incident.

Actually Kassian was smart on that play not to go bananas even though he had full right to bash Perron's face in for cheap stuff like that and cost the Canucks a PP.

Welcome to Vancouver Zack, whatever you do get's criticized and you **** on for it.

He's had 2 games with the Canucks and hasnt looked out of place. He's willing to drop the gloves as well.

I love how people are immediately trying to discredit him.

That's not going to result in anything. If he had been injured im sure Shanny would have looked into it, but the way it unfolded was really just a 2 minute penalty.

You saw him for 2 games, some of us in the Eastern Conference have seen a little more. But yeah, 2 games explains everything. Sabres fans, most of them anyway, will tell you the same thing. He might as well be related to Matt (I know he isn't, so in case some guy decides to point it out by misreading it, there).

You give Shanahan way too much credit.

And we've seen Hodgson for much longer. It's easy to display his shortcomings like playing sheltered minutes behind Kesler and Sedin or rarely taking a defensive zone faceoff unless he ices the puck.

He has 1 goal in his last 20 games and yet he gets this reputation as a "90 pt player" as soon as he's traded. We know much better.

Goes both ways.

Obviously Kassian is going to be inconsistent. He's young and still finding his game. I"m willing to be patient but it's clear that he'll drop them if needed. Probably wont go looking for it though.
